Sunny Sunday! #10

Good morning to everyone and Happy Sunday! I hope your day is going well. It is early, so still dark right now. Therefore no action at the feeders yet. There ended up being a lot of action yesterday. The evening grosbeaks showed up, filling the feeders to overflowing. Amazingly there were very few “arguments” among them yesterday, quite remarkable for those birds. There were at least 6 red-breasted nuthatches around all day and there were definitely more than a few “arguments” among them.

Of course they all wanted to be on the suet feeders at the same time and that just does not work when there are only 3 suet feeders. Since there was so much activity with the little birds I went out with my camera for some pictures. Now, I quickly got my jacket and boots on, grabbed my camera and went out the door. I did not even bother with my gloves since it was nice and mild. By the time I got out there…nothing.

Bachelor button.

I mean there was not even one bird to be seen. Not even a chickadee. How could there be so much going on out there and suddenly there is nothing. I looked down beside me…that is why. The neighbors dog was standing beside me looking around. The birds really do not like him. He runs up on the deck barking at them. He did not do that while I was out there, but I think just the sight of him scares them now. Oh well.

So I aimed my camera at him and he ran away. Hmm, no one seems to like my camera. How strange. I waited a bit to see if the birds would come back, but, nothing. So I went back inside, boots off, jacket off, camera on the table, look out the window and…the feeder is full of redpolls, the chickadees are back bouncing around, the nuthatches are “arguing” about the feeders. Sigh.

Bachelor button in a different color.

Perhaps it was just my camera that scared them away. No, I did not try to go out again. I had a lot to do and needed to get busy. It was a beautiful day yesterday though, with a high of 28F (-2C), and cloudy. Today will be much the same with a bit of snow and possibly some freezing drizzle. But it is a beautiful morning. Have a nice, sunny Sunday everyone and God bless!

    • Good afternoon!😁🌞😺 I hope the bears don’t wake up yet!🤔😮🐻 Actually they won’t wake up until the snow is gone, which will be mid to late April.
Yes, that has happened several times, I look outside and there are so many birds, but by the time I get out there, nothing. And I come back inside and the birds are back again. I think they hide in the trees until the camera is gone. I can go outside without my camera and they will stay!🙄📷
Wow, you’re getting really nice spring temperatures! That would be so nice to have. Maybe next month for us.🤔🙄😂😹
Hope you are enjoying your new house! Have a beautiful day!😊🌞😻

      • Yep, I thought maybe the birds were afraid of my camera, so I tried my phone, still didn’t work.🤔📷🙄
So I covered my camera so only the end of the lens showed. Still didn’t work. They knew!🤔😂😹
Most of the time they don’t mind though, except the evening grosbeaks, hard to get close to them.🤔🙄📷
Glad to hear you are enjoying your house! It is a big commitment, but worthwhile and something you will have for a long time to enjoy. And it will keep getting better all the time!😊😻🏡
        Thanks!😁😺😻🌞

  5. That’s strange your critters and feathered friends ran away, and then returned. Perhaps, they weren’t in the mood to pose for pictures! Give Muffin an extra hug from Callie, and family. ☕️☕️

    • It has happened like that a few times when I go out with my camera. Why, I don’t know. But it is kind of funny! I’ll give Muffin her hug when she wakes up from her noon nap! But I’m sure she will want to send a hug back! Enjoy your day Eugenia!😁😺😻🌞☕☕
