For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning and Happy Sunday everyone! Well, it’s still a bit dark out but it is going to be a beautiful day apparently. We are supposed to get a high of 50F (10C) today, with sunshine! Yesterday we made it to 48F (9C) and it was also mostly sunny after starting off cloudy. The snow continues to melt, which is certainly nice to see after having snow on the ground for several months now. By this time of the year I would love to see green grass, flowers and, well, I do like to dream remember.
Unfortunately our forecast is not looking very good for the next couple of weeks, with a snowstorm due to hit us on Tuesday. I am hoping it will suddenly disappear. Maybe just evaporate? There goes my dreaming again. Oh well. Then the temperature gets colder again…right into April. However, that part could change, long range forecasts are seldom right anyway. It was very quiet at the feeders yesterday, though for about 20 minutes there were 50 or more evening grosbeaks. But they suddenly flew away and never came back.
The chickadees, nuthatches and redpolls remained throughout the day, though not as many of them. Oh, the blue jays kept coming off and on throughout the day as well. And Jasper made his afternoon appearance too. There was not even any deer yesterday. Last night about 9:40pm there was a loud noise on the deck, it woke up Muffin who went to the window and was staring at something. Plus the dog next door started barking. Not good.
So I had to go look, even though I really did not want to look. However, by the time I got to the window I could see nothing outside. So I opened the door to get a better look. Nothing out there. I was happy about that though. I put my hanging bird feeders away at night now, just in case the raccoons show up. They are still outside, but where the raccoons cannot get them. However, bears can still get at them. But bears should not be awake yet, much too early. Too much snow on the ground yet. Oh well. Nothing was around that I could see, so that is good. Have a wonderful day everyone and God bless!

I hope spring is here, but the forecast is not looking good right now! Thanks, peonies are amazing flowers and huge! Yes, that war is terrible, killing kids, starving, bombing, so hard to believe what is going on. It was a beautiful day today, tomorrow should be nice too before the snowstorm hits. Such lovely photos of beautiful flowers, Steve! Spring seems to be taking its time this year even in my neck of the woods. But, I can’t complain because the sun is shining and our temps are going to be in the low 70s today! ππΈπΊ πΈπβοΈβοΈ

Oh, those are very nice temps indeed! We are at 43 right now and a strong east wind, so it doesn’t feel quite so warm. But it’s still nice. Have a great day!ππ»ππ₯οΈπ·

I wonder what made the noise and got the dog barking?

I would really like to know. And yesterday morning, early there was something walking on the roof!

would you hear a raccoon walking on the roof?

Yes, it is possible, though it seemed too heavy for a raccoon. But I have already put it down as one anyway. Only problem is, if it was a raccoon then why did it not come down to the main feeder, there were still lots of seeds on it.
