For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good Monday morning to everyone! Time for a cup of coffee, or another one, sit back and relax with Muffin and I on this fine Monday. You probably noticed the name change again, but Grover was so popular he got his own post of funnies once again, so he will not be part of this post anymore. Therefore, a name change was necessary.
Monday is often referred to as “blue Monday”, which I do not mind since I like the color blue, even though that is not what is being referred to. But it still fits. However, perhaps on a more cheery note, I have decided on a “yellow Monday”. Yellow is always a nice cheery color, bright and beautiful. So today we have our bright yellow birds, and, our bright yellow flower for today, the every unpopular dandelion! Except with me.
I am sure I have mentioned it before, but I like dandelions. They are beautiful, cheerful looking and usually the first flower to bloom in spring around here. But oh my, people do get upset when I mention that I like dandelions. I have literally had people yell at me for saying that I like them. Others just give me a glaring look of hatred.
Some give me a lengthy lecture for why dandelions are such horrible weeds. Personally I call them wildflowers. They are not horrible. They grow easily, and anywhere. It is not necessary to look after them. And, they are extremely healthy to eat. The whole plant. Leaves, stem, flowers can go into any salad. The flowers add a beautiful splash of color on top of the salad. The are full of vitamins and minerals.
And the roots can be dried to make a great coffee substitute, absolutely caffeine free too. What is not to like? Think of all the time, money and headaches people would save if we ate the dandelions instead of trying to kill them year after year. Not to mention the calm they would give us if we just looked outside at them and enjoyed their beauty. Hmm, I was not even planning to talk about dandelions today. Oh well. There it is.
Well, the forecast yesterday was for showers and thunderstorms, even had some warnings out, but, after only a couple of light showers earlier it turned out to be mainly sunny. It did stay a bit on the cool side though with a high of only 59F (15C). Not very warm for June, but the sunshine was very welcome. And this week it is supposed to warm up a bit and be mainly sunny for the whole week. That will be very nice indeed! Hopefully I can get more than one walk to the river this week and see how things are going down there. Well, time to head out shopping, I hope you all have a marvelous Monday and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.

Everything about them is good, we have just been conditioned to think of them as weeds instead of the beautiful and healthy wildflowers that they are! Have a good night!๐๐ปโโ๐ด๐๐ท
