The Investigators, Inc. Mystery of Avina. Chapter 5. Mistakes.

How could we have not noticed that Jennifer was missing? It was my fault totally. The leader of each team is responsible for keeping track of everyone in their team. We are doing things too fast, yet we have no choice. That deadline will be here much too soon and we need all 9 people by that time. Yet we need rest too.

But first we need to go back and get Jennifer, she could be in big trouble and we do not know how she will be treated. That is a rough prison. We will need Baldwin’s helicopters again which means extra work since we had to put them back to their original condition just in case the authorities here decide to check the helicopters.

“All done Steve,” said Rock as he and Benson came in to the room. “We will have to put everything back in for tomorrow night,” I said, “we are going back for Jenny.” They looked at each other. “That will be dangerous Steve,” said Rock, “they will likely expect that.” “Yeah, I know,” I admitted, “but we cannot leave her there either.” I call Baldwin next and tell him what happened.

“You will not be able to use the helicopters again Steve,” he said. My heart sunk at the news. “We got a police report that the police over there will be watching all helicopters for a few nights, just in case you do decide to go back in for Jennifer,” he continued, “so it would be too dangerous to use the helicopters again.”

“Then we need a different way to go in,” I said, “this woman here could help us, but she is unwilling to do so. I think Avina has told all these people they do not need to cooperate with us at all.” “That is likely true,” he answered, “more bad news, Susan has disappeared too.” “That will be Avina,” I said, “she is just making sure I keep my end of the bargain. She will not get away with that. Is Annelie there too?”

“Yes, the phone is on speaker so we can all hear,” he said. “Try to contact John and see if he can give us any info about this woman that might help her to cooperate with us,” I said. “Will do Steve,” she answered, “want me to contact Jake too?” “No, I am going to do that,” I said. “Steve, you must take it slow, your body, it cannot take a lot of pressure anymore,” said Chung.

“I will take it easy, as much as possible,” I told him. Next I called Jake to see if he could give me information about this prison that could help us get inside. “I have someone who can help you,” he said, “she has spent time in there herself. It is my little sister, she got mixed up with the wrong friends, she was trying hard to fit in and always had trouble with finding good friends.

They got her to pick up drugs down there and she got caught. She spent some hard time in there, the worst part of that prison. That is where they will be holding Jenny she said. My little sis has changed Steve, and she wants to stay that way. I told her about you and your team. I want to ask a big favor. Will you look after her?

Not just now, but afterwards too. She really is a good kid, just mixed up for a while, but gone straight now for sure.” “You have my promise on that Jake, even if she is not able to help us right now,” I said, “but if she can help us some way I would sure appreciate it. And she would be paid for her help too.” “I thought this was all volunteer this trip?”, he asked, “she does not want anything for her help, she volunteers like the others.”

“Okay,” I said, “if that is the way she feels. She will get good protection from us, but danger is always present.” “Yeah, she knows Steve,” he said. “We will come pick her up, just tell us where,” I said. We then made arrangements and Baldwin had a jet there to pick her up and bring her here to us.
