Everyone took something out of that box to look at, me included. It was not just jewels, but jewelry, and very beautiful at that. Then I saw Crystal frown. “What is wrong?” I asked her. “This stuff is not real, it is just costume jewelry,” she answered, “it is easy to tell just by the weight of it. And the jewels themselves, it is easy to see they are fake. I know jewelry, um, from my last job.” “I was hoping you would say that,” I said.

Everyone looked at me. “You wanted them to be fake?” asked Sky, “but why?” “Well, I just did not really believe they would be hidden here,” I explained, “but we had to check to make sure. Poor Sofie, she went through all this, even the killing of her sister, just for fake jewels. Her lover sure dumped her, and dramatically.” “Her lover?” exclaimed Crystal, “you mean her husband?”

“No, not her husband,” I explained, “he died in an accident 5 years after he and Sofie got married. Then she fell in love with Ben, and he returned that love. Denise knew about it but pretended she did not and she put up with it since Ben brought in a good income. Then along came Mack and she turned to him and left Ben. Ben confessed to Denise and asked to be forgiven, which she did.

Then Mack, Ben and Sofie planned this theft, intending to split the haul 3 ways. But as usual, greed came along, Mack and Sofie decided they would kill Ben after the theft so they could keep the jewels to themselves. But, something went wrong, a guard came along earlier than he was supposed to and caught them as they were about to leave. Mack shot him, so he told the police, then he told Sofie to give the jewels to Ben for safe keeping since the police would be checking into Sofie and not Ben.

They had told Ben to stay home that night because it would be safer with just the two of them. Sofie just barely got away while Mack stayed behind to hold the police back for a bit. But he got caught instead. Sofie was scared and did what Mack said and gave the jewels to Ben to hide, intending to split them after Mack got out of jail. But Mack was sent to prison for nearly 30 years.

Ben hid the jewels and would not give them up to Sofie until Mack got out of prison, but, someone shot Ben when he met Mack. My guess is that Thomas shot him, or one of his friends did it. But that will be hard to prove, even Sofie likely does not know who did the shooting. The key is still that puppy, which we need to find, quickly.”

We put the fake jewels back in the box, repacked it and went back to the chateau. Where could that little stuffed toy be hiding. It obviously was hidden. Perhaps Ben did confide in Denise finally, so she hid the puppy. Lots of answers now, but still questions too. The police were still questioning Sofie when we came back. The head officer came to talk with me.

“You will have to let her go for now,” I said, “we did not find those jewels, and we need her to hopefully lead us to the jewels.” He agreed so the police left. I could tell that Sofie was relieved at not being arrested. We went back down to that room to look around some more. After a while I started getting sleepy so laid down on the bed in that little room. It was quite comfortable and I was soon asleep. Crystal came into the room with another box of papers and other things from the basement.

She set it down on the table and started going through the box. I woke up at that time and went to see what she had found. She showed me something very curious and interesting. Then and odd feeling came over me and I went behind Crystal who was sitting down at the table. I then suddenly wrapped my arm around her throat and began choking her.

Because she was sitting it made it harder for her to fight back. Sky came back down the stairs right then and heard the commotion going on and came running into the room. I did not even notice her. She came over and kicked me hard in the stomach which made me let go of Crystal, then she kicked me in the head knocking me to the floor. I woke up, in the clinic again, this time strapped down so I could not move.

  2. So are you sure about Sky ? Is she really Sky or pretending to be Sky ? Kicking you hard like that causes some concern to me ! 🤭😳 Where is Muffin ? 😼 you are in trouble ! 🕵️‍♂️👩‍🦰👩‍🦰🤭🎄

    • I was trying to kill Crystal, it was right of Sky to stop me as quick as possible. If she had not done that she would have to be dismissed from the team. Those are the rules that apply to any of us caught trying to hurt or kill another team member. I am glad she did it or Crystal may have ended up dead. The 3 cats were busy looking for more secret doors upstairs. Sky had just gone up to get us some coffee or she would have been here so I could not have done what I did. There is a problem for sure and it’s that drug I was given. 🤔👩😼😼😼🕵️‍♂️💎

  3. It seems strange that you would get tired and fall asleep in the room when time was short and finding the puppy or other information was needed. Why were you so tired, when there was an important task at hand?

    • Well, I have not gotten much sleep on this case, so that could be it. Or it could be something else. But we have a lot of people working on this case and they were hard at it too. Maybe someone played a lullaby in my ear to make me tired. That is not far fetched! Today’s chapter will reveal something interesting!🤔👩😼😼😼🕵️‍♂️💎
