Friday Fun With Coffee! #4

Good morning everyone and Happy Friday to all of you! It is a cold morning, cloudy and windy. That wind makes it feel even colder. We did get some more snow overnight, another 5 inches (12.5cm). So, with the snow at the beginning of the week, that makes 8 inches (20cm) for the week. Not a lot really, but enough to slow down this guy a lot. I still have more shoveling to do yet today.

But I wanted to take a break half way through. The hardest part is coming up. Oh well. Part of the joys of winter. The beauty of winter kind of disappears when it comes time to shovel some of that beauty out of the way. I am ready for spring. But spring is a long way off yet. And our two snowiest months, February and March, are coming up.

Hairy woodpecker on a tree stump last spring.

This is shaping up to be another snowy winter and that could mean high water levels in our lakes and rivers again. But that will also be determined by how much rain we get in the spring. I am looking forward to spring. Each winter seems to get harder. It would be fine without all that snow. And less cold weather. But then I guess it would not be winter!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Ή Oh well.

Grover, the Common Grackle at the feeder last spring.

The chickadees and nuthatches have been busy and I see that both the male and female Downy woodpeckers are here right now. The female is waiting to come down for her turn at the suet. There are 3 suet feeders, but that one male will not let the female, or the other male, come down if he is here. Only a couple blue jays have shown up this morning.

I thought perhaps the snow and colder day would bring in more birds. That is the way things normally work. But this winter has not been normal. For birds, that is. I see the temperature has dropped a little since this morning, and the wind has gotten stronger as well. I am looking forward to spring already. I think I might have said that already. I like summer. And warm weather.

Chipping Sparrow, our smallest sparrow, last spring.

I know it is coming, but it is also a long way off yet. Our next big winter holiday is soon to arrive though, International Cabin Fever Day! That is the last day of January. I always look forward to that one! Muffin enjoys it too. We have a lot of fun that day. Well, back to shoveling. Have a fun Friday everyone and God bless!

Steve and Muffin.

  1. Shoveling? Are you sure? And are you shoveling? I should call your doctor and complain about his customer trying to find a way to visit him again, sore. Or I should simply call Muffin to take care of that feet 😾😸😸 spring season is coming not very far, see, Jan is almost over and soon Feb March will also disappear πŸ˜‰ time flies I just wished happy new year, and cabin fever day almost close πŸ˜„ Time sure is a fast thing, and earth is definitely rotating faster,. Have a good day Uncle Steve and Muffin.. take care of his feet 😸

      • Yep, Cabin Fever day was great! Muffin and I are worn out from all the games, eating and running around chasing each other!😍😻πŸ₯±πŸ₯± What a day! Oh my, your phone had problems, glad the disease wasn’t too serious anyway. Phones seem to catch things so easily at times. Maybe you need to put a coat on it on those chilly wet days. Hmm, month end again, that’s bad. Just when you had started to sleep so good too.πŸ˜΄πŸ€” I hope it doesn’t last too long. Month end that is, not good sleeping. Have a great day! It is now the month beginning!πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜»πŸ˜»β˜•β˜•

      • Well, six hours is not so bad and not so good either. You should get a minimum of 7 hours at your age.πŸ€”πŸ™„ Otherwise your brain will swirl, your eyes will bulge out and your head will swell.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Ή Good idea getting a mask for your phone, you should also get a nice hat for it too!πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜‚πŸ˜Ή

      • How about a sweatshirt πŸ˜‚ this magic mirror should shut off one day, this makes everyone dependent on one side and brilliant on other side πŸ™‚πŸ˜Έ

  2. it sounds like you never lack for physical activity, shoveling snow, feeding the birds, and putting out the garbage. Too bad you can’t have a Florida vacation or go to Hawaii, for the cold months!!!

    • Thank you so much! Not much activity here either, normally after a bunch of snow the feeders are busy. But that strong wind may have kept them away. I hope I do sleep well tonight, and you as well!πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜»β„οΈβ„οΈπŸŒ›πŸ₯±πŸ˜΄πŸ˜΄
