The Investigators, Inc. The Case of Carrie’s Family. Chapter 9. Rage.

“Um, cats do not talk Menton,” said Charlie, “what are those two using anyway?” “I told you two to shut up about ghosts, and I mean it!” he yelled. Meowy=Why you yell so much, ghosts real, like your human ghost wife by stairs. Menton turned and his first wife was standing by the stairs. “Are you going to stay up all night Harold?” she asked. “There, there Charlie,” said Menton, “do you see her by the stairs?”

“There is no one over there,” he said. Menton still had his broom and he went livid now and ran over to his wife swinging that broom while she just stood there, the broom going through her each time. “See, she is a ghost, she is!” yelled Kenny. Suddenly there was a loud clap of thunder and the lights went out briefly. When they were back on Charlie had disappeared too.

Menton went running outside to see where he went, but no one was in sight. He came back in. “Charlie is a ghost too!” yelled Kenny. Then Menton chased the boys back to their room with the broom. Then they all heard Carrie yelling downstairs again. Menton was in a rage now and went running down those stairs so fast that he tripped at the bottom and landed on a small table smashing it to pieces. The boys came running down to see if he was okay.

He got up screaming for Carrie to be quiet. “Shut up you rotten girl!” he screamed, “you are no good, you hear me, you are no good for anything! You are dirt! You are ugly! Those cockroaches are better than you! That is why you have no friends and that is why no one loves you! Do you hear me?! You are nothing but dirt!” Then he ran down the basement stairs and started beating the mattress that Carrie was lying on, but she just disappeared again.

The boys were really scared now and the thunderstorm was getting worse, with lightning flashes and loud thunder crashing every couple minutes! That thunderstorm arrived at a perfect time. It was short lived however, which was okay, especially since John was standing outside at the back to make sure no one else came to, or left, the house. I called Mac after that last raging episode with Menton. “Yeah Steve?” he asked. “If I told you to go and silence Menton right now, would you do it?” I asked him.

“Just say the word Steve and he is done,” said Mac. “Steve, no, you cannot do that right now,” said Sky, “we planned this so well, he has one more part yet.” I thought for a moment. “Okay, we will wait Mac,” I said. “I could hear Menton yelling, but not what he said,” Mac said, “must have been bad.” “Yeah, it was,” I said, then I told him what Menton had said. “Just say the word Steve,” said Mac, “I will take out all 3 of them.”

“If Painter lets them go, we will not,” I said to him. Menton finally went to bed, though his sons did not. Then he suddenly woke up and stared at a ghostly figure standing at the end of his bed. We used John for this one since he and Menton were about the same size and Saranna made him look just like Menton. She is really good at this. “Who are you?” growled Menton “and how did you get in here?”

“Do you not recognize me?” asked the ghost, “take a good look.” Menton rubbed his eyes and looked. Then his eyes got real wide. The ghost laughed. “Finally you recognize yourself,” said the ghost, “do you also recognize these?” He had three gunshot wounds to his chest, with blood running down his shirt. The ghost laughed again. “This is what will happen to you when Painter catches up with you,” said the ghost, “that is right, you will soon be dead, you hear me, dead!”

“Stop it, stop laughing you, stop it I say!!” screamed Menton. Right then his sons came into the room and turned on the light. The ghost turned to them and they turned completely pale and yelled for him to stay away! “Why? Do you not recognize your own father?” said the ghost. The boys saw the wounds and blood and then noticed it was their dad. “Dad! You’re dead!” they both cried out together.

“No, no, no!!” he yelled and got out of bed. He went over to the ghost and began swinging his arms in the air, trying to hit the ghost. The ghost just stood there laughing, then disappeared. Then just his voice came, “remember Menton, this is you, soon you will be dead, along with your sons! Painter will see to that!” The voice then trailed off to nothing with a sinister laughing…

    • Yes, I wonder what is going to happen next? Will Menton run before we get there? Will Painter stop him?πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ
