The Investigators, Inc. The Case of the Mysterious Castle. Chapter 2. Watched.

We did not know when we left our rooms that we were being watched. However, we will know soon enough if anyone enters our rooms. We put our own locking alarms on the doors and windows, but, if there was a secret door leading into our rooms there was no way to block that just yet.

We did not have time to let the cats snoop around to find any hidden doors, but we did do a quick electronic sweep of each room and found no cameras or listening devices of any kind. We will check more thoroughly later anyway and get the cats to do their check. They are well trained for finding any hidden devices. Plus, we have our scramblers to use and our own cameras that cannot be detected by electronic means.

So if anyone enters our room, we will know who. The butler seemed rather strange to me and Kat, I mean Crystal, did not like him at all. Several of the girls said he was just creepy. Crystal was posing as Sky again for this case. Jim and Anne knew I was married and were expecting Sky to come along, so I thought it best that she did.

But I wanted the real Sky to stay home where she would be safe. When someone specifically wants her to come, then I become nervous and wonder why. I should not be that way I guess, but since we have had so many problems and Sky has been through a traumatic situation in our last case, I thought it best to be safe. They put Crystal and I in our own room, which they called the Lovers Lookout.

We were all on the top floor and our room was actually in one of the towers, right at the end of the hall. We had a delicious meal and talked more about this Andrew guy that was giving them problems. Apparently he is staying in the city getting his lawyer to get things settled to kick them out of “his” property. I got the name of his lawyer and called Mandar’s lawyer who said he would contact the man in the morning and see what is going on.

He told me that Andrew’s lawyer is a rather shady character that often helps criminals. That would make sense. I told him we need time to search and find the missing deed. He assured me that would not be a problem. Our room was actually the largest, so we had a meeting in there after dinner to sort of plan out what we would do the next day.

First we checked our camera and I smiled. The maid had been in our room and planted a listening device behind a lamp by the bed. Not very original. But now we know of one secret door and passage which we will check out in the morning. The cats checked the other rooms but the only other one to have a secret door was the one used by Rock and Mac.

That is a good thing. The night passed quietly and we were up early, had a good breakfast and then began our search. It did not take long to figure out how to open the door in our room and we were soon walking down a narrow set of stone stairs. It was amazingly clean along the way. Crystal, Angel, Kristina, Kyan, myself, Muffin and Tiia were in our group.

We went down and down, all the way to the basement, except there was not supposed to be a basement. There were rooms down here though, but not much in them, except for one room which looked very lived in and that seemed rather odd. There were mens clothes in the room and everything was quite neat and clean. There was a very large TV in the room which seemed odd.

I turned it on and, well, well, not a TV, but used as a monitor for 6 different cameras around the castle. The kitchen, living room area, Jim and Anne’s bedroom, his study and a couple other rooms I did not recognize and they were not labeled like the others. One room looked rather interesting though, it had a lot of stuff in it, including piles of boxes.

It also looked like someone had been going through that stuff. Perhaps Jim and Anne, while someone here was watching them. The person here would certainly know where they kept the deed for the castle. “Hmm, I wonder if it is in here somewhere?” I asked myself out loud. “Why would he keep it here?” asked Angel, why not take it with him?”

“Well, he might get caught with it,” I said, “if he kept it here, a place that Jim and Anne do not know about, then it is safe. He will need that original deed when he finally takes over this place, using his fake one all the time would not be a good idea.” “That is a good point,” said Kyan, “at least we know he will not destroy it.” “Someone is coming,” I said…

To Be Continued.

    • Yes, the kittens should be a real help to us now. We are already finding out some things, but I am sure we will find a lot more than we thought we would before this is done!πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

  2. Great post
Great job on this blog post! The plot is thickening and I’m eagerly waiting to see what happens next. I’m curious, have the cats found any other hidden doors besides the one in the room?

    • Thank you so much! So far no more hidden doors, but, in chapter 3 we certainly find something, or at least, Muffin does. But perhaps it would have been better not to find that one! What started out to be a simple case is quickly turning into something a bit more complicated…πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ
