The Investigators, Inc. The Case of the Mysterious Castle. Chapter 11. He is Back!

The photo of Andrew quickly comes through on my laptop. “I do not believe it!” exclaimed Crystal, “that is Toledo!” “So it is,” I said, “our old friend has come to haunt us once again. Well, if haunting is what he wants, then we shall oblige him.” “What do you have in mind?” asked Sigurbjorn. “Well, we need to try and find that treasure,” I said, “so we will have to be up all night looking for it, and hopefully getting some help from a couple of people.

I think Anne and that other maid need some time to, um, relax.” The girls giggled. I called everyone to our room for a little conference. “We do not have much time before the others get here,” I said, “so we need to get things done quickly. They have gone back to their bedrooms now, so give them a dose of their own fun, but with our sleeping gas this time. Then take Anne and whatshername to one of the rooms down in the basement for some fun and games with ghosts and bugs and rats.”

“The maid’s name is Fiona,” said Angel giggling. I can never remember that for some reason. “Okay, once Sky gets here, then you 3 get together and make yourselves triplets in a ghostly sort of way,” I said, “and since we have no rats, we will have to use cats for rats instead.” They jumped for joy at being part of our fun and games tonight.

Aasta will be bringing her collection of fake bugs, which are amazingly realistic. Why she likes those things I do not understand, but right now I am glad she does. We left Jim to enjoy a good night of sleep, after giving him a needle of some kind of relaxant and took Anne and Fiona down to the basement for our fun and games. They would be waking up soon.

We had found a room down there that must have been used as some kind of dungeon to chain up people for whatever reason. But it was perfect for our needs tonight. “What is going on here?” said Anne grumbling and struggling. “Oh, you scared me!” said Fiona, “but I am glad that you are here too, I am a bit frightened. It is so dark in here I cannot see a thing and AAAAAAAA!! Something touched my bare foot!”

“Probably just a rat,” said Anne. Then she screamed too when something brushed against her leg. “We do not have rats in here, someone must have brought some in!” she exclaimed. “I hate rats!” cried Fiona, “let me out of here! What do you want with me? I have not done anything, it is all Anne, she has been doing this, she is working with some guy named Toledo to steal this castle!”

“Shut up you little coward!” said Anne, “say anything more and I will deal with you and you will not like it!” Then they heard some weird laughter, first by one man, then two men laughing. “I do not recognize those men,” said Anne, “who are you? Show yourselves you cowards!” The laughing got louder and louder and louder. “Stop it, stop it!!” cried Fiona, “I am scared, please stop, what do you want from me? I do not know anything!”

“We want your treasure ladies, all of your hidden treasure,” the men said, “Jim has told us about that hidden treasure, if you want to live, then tell us where it is.” “I do not know where it is!” cried Fiona, “please believe me, only Anne knows where it is, she hid it somewhere.” “I told you to shut up!” yelled Anne. Then a large spider slid slowly down her face causing her to scream very loudly.

Then another spider dropped onto her shoulder and she screamed even louder. I guess she does not like spiders. Then a glowing man appeared and he had his hands around a woman’s neck. That woman was Sky and he was choking her until she fell to the floor dead. The man laughed. “Which of you wants to be next?” he asked laughing.

Then Sky stood up. Then a second Sky, then a third Sky, all standing and yelling and laughing. Poor Fiona fainted at that point and Anne kept yelling “NO”! Then everything went dark again, but the laughing from the men kept on and on. “Stop it!” yelled Anne, “we can split the treasure, there is enough for both of us!” There was silence.

“Okay,” said John, “take me to the treasure, we will split 50/50.” “Okay, that is fine with me,” said Anne, her voice shaking. She really did take John to the hidden treasure. “I suppose you would like your husband here when we split this treasure,” said John. “Jim? Forget him,” she said, “he gets nothing from this treasure, it is all mine.

Unless you and I go off together with this treasure. We could live like royalty with all of this.” John laughed. “A woman after my own heart,” he said, “I thought perhaps you might have a boyfriend if not your husband, like that Andrew.” “Andrew! I do not want to hear his name anymore,” said Anne, “I was working with him for a while because I needed some help, but with you I do not need him anymore.” She smiled so nicely at John…

  1. Oooo… she is a slimey character 🀨 Yiu shoukd put her back in the dungeon and leave here there! She’s nothing but trouble and problems for the future! And you know Toledo won’t let this go!😠

    • Yes, she is slimey indeed! I don’t want her in the dungeon, Toledo might not find her there. She can go off on her own somewhere and let Toledo deal with her. I’m sure he won’t be very happy to know he was betrayed by his new girlfriend. Jim will likely be the one most hurt by all of this. But if he really is the owner of the castle, then the treasure would belong to him. But we need to find that deed for him so Toledo doesn’t get any of the treasure. Although Jim’s life might be in danger too, Toledo doesn’t like to lose.πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ˜ΎπŸ˜ΎπŸ˜ΎπŸ˜ΎπŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

      • Yes, it is hard to forget that! He is a very sore lover!
Do you think he knows it you there? Is Anne the one that recommended Jim call you?πŸ€” If so, then this has all been a setup to get you and the team there!

      • I’m not really sure who recommended us to Jim and Anne. If it was Toledo, then why hasn’t he done anything to us yet? Except for moving Crystal and I that one time, nothing has really happened to us. Kind of odd really, something always seems to happen in these old castles. Something else that is odd, Andrew had just recently been released from prison where he had spent time for forgery, but Toledo was not in prison. That tells me that Andrew started things and Toledo came along and took his place at some point. Maybe he just heard about the treasure and decided to move in for a share, namely all of it.πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

      • Very possible! But with Toledo, you can’t take any chances! You have to assume he is behind this whole thing to set you up to hurt you in some way.🀨

      • Possibly, but he has had plenty of opportunities so far and has done nothing, which seems rather odd. But maybe all that treasure is making it hard for him to see anything else! Still, we will be watching things closely from now on.πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ˜ΌπŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

      • Wise and prudent? Hmm, guess I better let Sky handle things then. Now it’s back to the dungeon to talk with Fiona!πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

      • I think she knows things, but didn’t want to admit it, she was just hoping to stay alive. Perhaps Toledo hired her to watch Anne because he didn’t really trust her with all that treasure. Criminals can never trust one another.πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

      • That’s likely! But he picked the wrong lady for that! She started singing like a canary when she got scared!🀭🀭 Perhaps if she knew the kind of person she was working for, she might be easier to deal with in getting information πŸ€”

      • Yes, I’m sure she doesn’t really know who Toledo is or what he is like, it was probably just a job for her and likely she was getting paid well. Even the bad guys make mistakes when hiring people!πŸ€”πŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

      • Yes, we shall let her know exactly what he is like. Her life is in danger now too. I doubt Toledo would let her live even if she did her job right.πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

      • Providing she believes it, which she might not. Toledo can be a very nice person when he wants to be as long as he figures it will help him get his way. Then look out!πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

      • That’s true! Ya know, the next time he tries to kill you, you should fake your death, so he believes you’re gone. Then you won’t need to worry about him! It might make it easier to catch him!πŸ˜‰

      • Somehow I don’t think he would believe I was dead unless he was standing over me blasting me with a shotgun! He is a hard man to convince.πŸ€”πŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

      • I think he really doesn’t want you dead! I think he likes the cat and mouse game he plays with a worthy adversary. πŸ€” If you were gone, he wouldn’t have anyone to spar with, and he would become bored!

      • Yes, I have thought about that too. Maybe that is why he doesn’t kill me outright, he just tries to hurt me now and then and then slithers away like a snake in the grass!πŸ€¨πŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

  2. Well, it looks like everyone but Fiona and Anne, had much fun. Now the treasure is located which is good. But where is Toledo? How are you going to trap him or will he get away again?

    Liked by 1 person

    • Well, I’m not sure we will try to trap Toledo right now, there are still some things to solve, like finding the real deed for the castle for Jim. Anne must have hid it somewhere. I was thinking she might have destroyed it, but seeing how she operates, she likely just hid it, in case she needed it again at some point if things didn’t work out with Toledo. I think we will just let Toledo deal with Anne, I’m sure he will not be too happy to find out she betrayed him. Still have to figure out how Fiona fits in with all of this. I don’t think she is completely innocent as she claims to be.πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

      • Perhaps Toledo didn’t really trust Anne and hired Fiona to watch her so she wouldn’t run off with the treasure by herself. Criminals just can’t trust each other at any time! But we need to talk with Fiona again and see if she will cooperate.πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ˜ΌπŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

  3. Well , well…actually Toledo is biding his time…so be careful how you approach him 😯 Take Muffin with you 😻 Toledo can use her to get you ! πŸ₯Ί It appears that Anne is more of a culprit than ToledoπŸ€” Will see what happens next and it may be sooner rather than later🀭…πŸ˜»πŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜³πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸ‘©πŸ‘©πŸ‘©β€πŸ¦°πŸ‘©β€πŸ¦³πŸ§’πŸ‘©β€πŸ¦±β—οΈ

    • I think that Toledo likes to fight with me and doesn’t really want to kill me, just hurt me now and then. Without me to fight he might get bored and he wouldn’t want that. But yes, that makes Muffin and Sky prime targets instead of me. Anne uses whoever will be the most help to her and doesn’t care about anyone but herself. She changes her loyalty at the drop of a hat. I think that we will let Toledo take care of her, he will not be too happy to know that she betrayed him. Next we need to find out more from Fiona, so it’s back to the dungeon for now.πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ˜ΌπŸ‘»πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ
