For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! It is another cloudy, but mild, day here. Yesterday it was 39F (4C), which is very nice for us in December, and it should be close to that today as well. It is 36F (2C) right now. I can see a strip of clear sky to the far south of us, but here it remains cloudy. I have finally finished my table and put the final coat of paint on it yesterday.
It is looking nice, at least I think so anyway. I like the Blue Depths color I used (formerly called Colonial Blue, but it had to be changed. However, I digress). It actually looks a bit darker than it should, due to the light in the kitchen. Florescent lights just do not show colors properly. I do not like florescent lights. Not at all. But I digress. I also find them hard on my eyes.

Winter time!
Which I also do not like. But I continue to digress. Anyway, it is not a fancy type table, you know, not the dining room type table. But it was not meant to be. It is a kitchen table. What I like to call, ‘farmhouse style’ table. It fits nicely with my collections. I should have more of my kitchen collectibles in the kitchen, except there is nowhere to put them in the kitchen.

Yes, I admit, it does look beautiful. And cold.
So where do I have my kitchen collectibles? In my bedroom. Yes, I know, it is an odd place to put them. I would like to change that a bit. Perhaps put my old games in the bedroom and the kitchen stuff out here in the living room. At least they would be closer to the kitchen. And it would be nice to have the games in the bedroom.
But, I do not have enough shelf space in the bedroom for all the games. That creates a problem. Oh well. Time to put up my Christmas decorations today. I normally like to do it on December 1, but it just has not really felt like winter these days so I kind of held off. But today is the day anyway, after all, it is only 18 more days to Christmas. I bought a new Christmas tree this year, twice as big as my old one.

But I do love walking the winter path to the river.
Which is not saying much since the old one is only a foot tall and the new one is 2 feet (60cm) tall. I would have gotten a four foot tall tree, but I just was not sure what Muffin might do to it. This one is still more of a table top variety which is nice. Speaking of plants. A second geranium is starting to bloom now. And…my Christmas cactus is getting buds!
I just bought it last Christmas, and it produced several new leaves over the summer. But this is the first time I have had a Christmas cactus rebloom for me the following year. It is just a small plant still, but noticeably bigger than last year. One bud should open up soon. I have never been good with any kind of cactus, I always overwater them.

With the sun shining through the trees on a bitterly cold day. Come to think of it, there is much to be said for summer.
I am late today, slept in a bit, guess I needed that extra sleep after the last few days. I am feeling back to normal again today finally which is very nice. Thank you to all of you for the nice wishes for me. Well, I should go get some lunch and dig out my decorations. Have a wonderful day everyone and God bless!
