For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Greetings everyone and Happy May! Yep, I am a little late on that one. May Day is not exactly a big deal here like it is in other countries around the world. But, it is May, what is considered our third, and last, month of spring. Meteorologically speaking. They have the seasons split up into 3 month periods, and it really makes more sense for those of us in the north.
Though March is really still a winter month, and April has become another winter month most years too, though it never used to be that way. May, however, is definitely spring for us, though it is starting off rather cool and somewhat wet. The whole month is supposed to be wetter than usual and also warmer than usual. We shall see if that holds out true or not.

The birds continue to return from the south, more and more all the time. It sounds nice in the morning listening to the birds singing once again. The robins begin the chorus well before it gets daylight. There were a couple of them singing out here this morning before 4am, while it was still dark. Robins will do that.
They seem to be excited that the morning has arrived and it is spring and it is time to start building nests once more. All thrushes love to sing early and sing late, they don’t seem to sleep much. Robins are members of the thrush family and the largest of the thrushes by far. And they love to be around people, unlike other thrushes that seem to prefer staying away from people.

It is cloudy again this morning, we were supposed to get some sunshine. Oh well. We are also supposed to get more rain this afternoon. That is good for the forest and really for everything as it begins to grow again. The grass is getting green and I noticed, on Monday, some Forsythia beginning to bloom with its bright yellow flowers.
It is usually the first shrub to bloom in the spring. They are not a native shrub for our area though, but it is so nice to see those bright flowers blooming again. I did not get a picture though, but perhaps the next time I go out. On some trees the buds are beginning to swell, but most still look quite dormant.

Just not quite enough warm weather to get those leaves popping out the way they should this time of year. But they will soon. Well, time to get another cup of coffee, thanks for joining me today. Have a great day and God bless!

Thank you Steve for sharing from your photography’s inventory. Spring feels like it is traveling at warp speed when the many songbirds begin to gather.
