Coffee Time! #18

Hi everyone! What a change in the weather! From hot and dry one day to cool and wet the next. Although we didn’t get much rain right here in our town, barely enough to get the street somewhat wet, the area around us received a lot of rain. Yesterday we were in an extreme fire hazard zone and today we are in a low fire hazard zone.

And it is cool, very cool. We go from highs of 32C (90F) to a high tomorrow of just 4C (39F). Right now it is 59F (15C), and that feels cool enough. Plus they are calling for ice pellets and snow flurries for tonight and tomorrow. I couldn’t find any information about rain hitting those huge fires west of us though.

One fire is about 76,600 acres (31,000 hectares). That’s the closest to us at about 20 miles (32 km) away, a distance the fire could travel in less than a day easily. The largest fire is about 250,000 acres (about 100,000 hectares). I bought some flowers to plant in the containers on my balcony. I might have to wait a couple of days though. I don’t want them to freeze.

Speaking of plants. My indoor garden of plants is sure doing well. Lots of new growth showing up on everything. I have my own little jungle of tropical plants. A couple of these I have never heard of before, yet they are a common houseplant. Like Peperomia. There are more than 1500 varieties of these plants and they are so varied that a person wouldn’t know that they were even related.

Unfortunately these plants are hard to find in a small town like this, but I do have 4 different varieties now. It’s a very dull, dark day with those heavy clouds out there. Most everyone is happy to get a break from the heat though. I don’t mind a short break either, the key word there being “short”. But, whatever happens, happens.

I think Muffin is enjoying the break from the heat too. She is definitely a more cool weather type cat. She did enjoy going out on the balcony when it was hot. She still wants to go out. That’s fine. But she wants me to go out there with her like before. That’s not fine. Oh well.

I didn’t sleep last night so I’m tired today and not feeling too well. Maybe I should try for a nap. hehehe. Muffin likes that idea too. She is already ahead of me on that one. Have a great day everyone and God bless!
