Sunday’s Beauty! #23

Greetings everyone! I have been kind of missing around here for a while, except for my Investigators story. It has just been one of those weeks where I was unable to think properly. So, I was unable to get my thoughts together for writing anything.

My story was already basically written, except for a few last minute additions or changes, so it was easy getting that done each day. I hope to get things back to normal soon.

A number of American White Water-lilies.

Anyway, my friend and I were out for another morning of photography, going to a few lakes to see what we could find. I will be showing those photos, beginning with today’s photo of American White Water-lilies. I didn’t think they would be blooming quite yet, but there were a lot of them out, shining brightly.

These flowers can be up to 6 inches (15cm) across. They close up at night and open early in the morning. They are also very fragrant and attract certain types of flies and bees looking for their delicious nectar.

This one was close to shore and facing towards me, making for a nice photo, along with it’s fly friends.

They can also grow up to 8 feet (about 2.44 meters) in length. The flowers and leaves (the lily pads) float on top of the water. Water beetles, dragonflies and damselflies often sit on the lily pads.

They were my mother’s favorite wildflower, along with two others, which I will show another time. Have a great day everyone and God bless!
