For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hi everyone! I hope you are all well and enjoying your day. It is a bit cooler today again due to the heavy smoke blocking the sunshine. It’s like being in a constant fog, but it smells strongly of smoke, because it is. It has been like this all week. My throat is sore all the time, I’m coughing steadily, my eyes are sore and I’ve got a headache.
Quick disclaimer; I am not complaining, just stating the facts. This happens to people who are constantly breathing this smoke. It’s a bit better indoors than it is outside, but not much. I was on the balcony for a while this morning watering my flowers and trimming them a bit.

From my balcony.
Muffin came out with me and watched the cars going past and some people walking. One man had a small dog which caught Muffin’s attention. After the fight with the cat next door, Muffin would not come on the balcony anymore. I would try to coax her out, but she just sat at the door and meowed, wanting me to come back inside.
Then our maintenance guy came and fixed the problem by putting a board in the way so the cats next door can’t get over here any more. Muffin seemed to know he was helping because starting that same day, she would come out there with me. I am going to pot some cuttings today and tomorrow. I decided to split it up between two days, so hopefully I won’t mess things up.

A lake from our last highway trip.
I have never done leaf cuttings before, so we shall see if they work out or not. I hope they work, since the main plant died. I have had them sitting in water for weeks now and they do have good roots at this point. So, time to plant them. I also have some regular stem cuttings from my polka dot plant. A couple of them have good, long roots now, so they should survive okay. I hope.
Oh my, that smoke is getting worse out there. But at least all we have to deal with is smoke, not fires. There are still thousands of people being evacuated from their homes. Hmm, fire alarm testing today, forgot about that. Muffin does not like that high pitched whistle.

Another lake.
But she doesn’t hide behind my chair anymore, so guess she’s getting used to it a bit. Now she just pretends to sleep through it, but I know she’s awake, she keeps stretching. Not a regular stretch though, a small type stretch. I call it a nervous stretch. The main test is over, now we wait for the all clear whistle.
Muffin is now awake and wants lunch. I told her she slept through lunch. She just sits there looking at me. It makes me nervous when she does that. Oh well, time to feed Muffin and plant my cuttings. Have a great day everyone and God bless!

Very true, it causes a lot of health problems for people and some can be quite serious.
