Hello everyone and Happy Sunday! It is a cloudy and much cooler day here and the forecast for the next 2 weeks is more of the same. Meaning that the heat of summer is past for another year.
Birds are flocking together, there was a large flock of grackles out behind our building the other day, just a reminder that summer is gone and fall is almost here.

And I’m not talking about the calendar seasons which are highly inaccurate this far north. And areas north of us the summer is even shorter.

But, on a nice cloudy and cool day like today, we have some more nice bright and sunny wildflowers to enjoy. These are more from our last highway trip.

I hope we can get out again this week to try and get some more insect and flower photos before we get right into fall and miss everything. Trying to get things lined up though, isn’t always easy. Oh well.

Glad you enjoyed them! Right now the smoke is staying just to the north of us. There is none here at the moment but it’s supposed to be coming back for a bit this week. So far about 18 million acres has burned.

Good you got some respite. Here in the Far North we are very familiar with wildfires and smoke. This summer started rainy and then broke the records for heat, in temperatures and the duration. Smoke settled and there were some people told to evacuate their homes. However, it got cooler and the fires diminished and most of the firefighters have gone home. They were sent here from many places. So thankful for cooler weather and rain. Would rather see rain and cooler temperatures than breathe smoke all summer! May the fires cease in your area of Canada!

Yes, areas with lots of forest do need a lot of rain to keep things healthy. It was only 70 here today and it’s expected to stay in the low 70s the rest of the month. So, the heat of summer is over. Maybe that will help the firefighters a bit. Yes, we need rain in those fire areas, only God can stop those big fires now.
