For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
About 9 am the next morning Detective Fergus and 15 police officers arrived at the Wemyss estate, much to the surprise of Wemyss himself. Fergus showed Wemyss the search warrant for his home which caused Wemyss to nearly explode and he called his lawyer right away. However, the police began to search the house thoroughly with Wemyss complaining constantly that they would never find anything, after all, he was a respectable businessman. By this time I had contacted Mandar and Sienna about Wemyss’ plans to put them out of business.
Sienna was quite calm about it saying that Wemyss would never be able to destroy Baldwin Corp. Mandar, however, was not calm at all and vowed to put Wemyss out of business instead. If anyone can do that, it would be Mandar, and he has ways to do things that I would not even think of, that’s for sure. Today he began his fight with Wemyss, just by sending out information about Wemyss imminent arrest over drug trafficking and suspected dealings in sex trafficking as well. Plus his involvement with several murders.
Right away the value of shares in most of Wemyss’ companies fell to historic lows, plus he lost contracts from all over the world as other companies didn’t want to be associated with him any longer. His phone was ringing non stop with the bad news. He had been very close to signing 3 new deals worth billions of dollars and he lost them all the same day. He then began yelling at Fergus to get his search over with so he could tend to business and go on his vacation. It was at that moment when some officers told Fergus to come upstairs to see what they had found.
“Look Fergus,” said Wemyss, “I can explain the dead men in my bedroom, they were killed by a huge lion belonging to a ghost that came to visit me last night.” Fergus was just beginning to go upstairs when Wemyss said that. “A ghost Mr. Wemyss?” he asked, “Perhaps you would like to come upstairs with me and tell me about this ghost.” “I will indeed,” said Wemyss. But, they went to Lola’s bedroom instead where the police had found a large haul of drugs in the mattress of Lola’s bed. Fergus asked for an explanation but Wemyss maintained that he knew nothing of the drugs, obviously Lola was involved with drug dealing and she kept him in the dark with her illegal activities.
That put Lola in a rage, yelling at Wemyss and saying he was just using her to cover up his own illegal activities, like drugs, guns, money laundering, sex trafficking, murders, thefts, kidnapping and much more. Wemyss just shook his head and told Fergus she was making up these fantastic allegations which she couldn’t prove. “And what about this ghost you mentioned?” asked Fergus. So they went to Wemyss’ bedroom next to look at the bodies for evidence of a lion killing the men.
They found two men with the sides of their heads crushed and 4 men that had been shot, but no evidence of a lion. “Well, just ask Lola, she saw the ghost woman and the lion if you don’t believe me,” said Wemyss and he then described the woman who made a clone of herself. He said you could touch the woman but also go right through her, just like a ghost, plus she could disappear and reappear at will. Fergus asked Lola but she said Wemyss was having a bad dream when she came into the room, but she saw nothing of a ghost or a lion. That’s when Wemyss lost control and attacked Lola by trying to choke her.
However Fergus, being a large and strong man, was able to pry him off of her quite easily. That’s when Wemyss was handcuffed and arrested. His lawyer was there before this happened and tried to protest the arresting sighting the fact that Wemyss was overworked and tired. But Wemyss just screamed at his lawyer, firing him and demanding access to a new lawyer! “I’ll have your job for this Fergus!” yelled Wemyss. “You would not like it Mr. Wemyss,” replied Fergus, “long hours and not enough pay.” “You will die for making fun of me Fergus!” he screamed, “I promise that you will die, my men will kill you for this!”
All of this only quickened the demise of the Wemyss Corporation as there was no one now in charge and it seemed that Wemyss himself had gone insane, seeing ghosts and unbelievably large lions, neither of which could be killed by bullets. After Wemyss was arrested I was walking around the hotel room and happened to pass in front of the large window. Jennifer yelled for me to duck and I hit the floor just as a bullet came through the window, narrowly missing me but hitting Roxanne in the leg. Guess Wemyss has some snipers around to try and kill me.
So, Jennifer and Sky decided it was time for me to head home. I said only if Jennifer came with me, but she said no, I go by myself. I said no, she had to come with me or I stay. That’s when Sky grabbed us both and we were back home immediately. Jennifer just sighed but she agreed it was better to be home to help guard me. I sent Sky back so she could move people back and forth over there and I put her in charge of things for the moment. That made her feel better, she wasn’t just there for transportation purposes.
Meanwhile, Callison was now awake and feeling somewhat better, though she still had some trouble remembering things and she had a constant headache. Samantha was able to control the headache quite well for her though. Jennifer and I went in to talk with her after returning home. “I’m so thankful for all your help,” she said, “Wemyss would have killed me too. I figured if I talked, he would kill me right away and he would get those gems. If I didn’t talk he would also kill me, but he wouldn’t get the gems. Either way I would die, but it would be better if he didn’t get the gems.”
“How did your father get those gems?” I asked. “He worked for Mr. Wemyss for a few years,” she explained, “one day he was told to return the gems to the safe and he went there and put the special box in the safe. But, on his way to the basement he took the gems out of the box and put them in his jacket pockets. That night we left quickly, father had everything planned ahead of time. That was before the estate had an electronic gate and father had a key for the lock.
We went directly to the airport and left for Canada, then several other countries where we stayed for short periods of time while father’s lawyer bought us the house we were living in. But Mr. Wemyss finally found us. We had hidden the gems 4 years ago, but only I knew where since I hid them. But, what good did it do, now I have no parents or any other family, although I do have my special cat, Fuzzy. He really did save my life by finding you.” She began to cry right then so Samantha said no more questions for now and I agreed with her. I left, but Jennifer stayed behind for a while to comfort Callison.
