For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Greetings everyone! Well, another week has come and gone, not counting tomorrow which is part of the weekend and therefore, separate. Yes, I know, I’m crazy. But, weekends do tend to be somewhat separate for a lot of people, especially for those who work a normal Monday to Friday job. That makes the weekend a special time, therefore making it separate from the rest of the week. Sort of, anyway. However, I digress, because that’s not what today’s post is all about.
I was going to call the post “Friday’s Thoughts”, but I wanted a title that sounded better, so I tried to find a word that was related to thoughts and that’s how I came upon the word “reflections”. So, what does that mean exactly for today’s post? Basically it means rambling about several different things, or thoughts. Already I have forgotten what I wanted to talk about. Well, not totally, but partly anyway.

Every day about this time someone comes walking down the street with their dog. The dog barks. Incessantly. It has a rather high pitched type of bark. The dog and it’s human always seem to meet the same person out walking the opposite direction and they stop to talk. The two humans. The dog barks. Incessantly. For ten or fifteen minutes depending on the day. Sometimes longer if it’s a warmer day. The humans don’t seem to hear the dog, which obviously wants to continue walking.
Speaking of warmer days, we are not getting them anymore. Although today was quite warm at a balmy 63F, or 17C. We had some sunshine, some cloudiness, some showers. Speaking of showers. We have had a fair bit of rain lately. Let me rephrase that. We have had a lot of rain lately. A portion of the park across the street remains flooded, which the geese love. They enjoy this little park in the fall. Why, I am not sure. They don’t use it during the summer. No one else uses it much either.

It’s just grass and sand, water and mud, most of the time. Anyway, in the fall the geese show up and this year they have enjoyed their own little “pond”, swimming around merrily. Sometimes as many as 30 of them are swimming while that many again are standing around the “pond” waiting for their turn. Most have left now, however, likely heading south, or out west to the grain fields before heading south. Most of our summer birds have gone now which is so sad.
It seems so empty going outside now, no birds singing, no birds running around on the ground, no birds flying around. Well, not many anyway. Soon the far northern birds will move into the area, but I don’t get to see, or hear, many of them around the apartment building. It’s too bad that no one in the area feeds birds during the winter. It would really brighten things up a bit. It has been rather cool the last few nights. Very cool actually.

I need to get a warmer blanket on my bed. The heater in my bedroom actually came on during the night, but not long enough to really help much. That’s why I need a warmer blanket. Or two. The new thermostats they put in here are not very accurate, they register 3 degrees warmer than the actual temperature. Everyone complains about them. Oh well, that’s the way it goes, saves on heating I guess. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and God bless!
