For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
“Then there was a ghost, at the top of the stairs,” I continued, “she was holding Muffin who was limp, she looked dead. Then the ghost laid Muffin down and disappeared through the wall.” Meow, meow.=Yep, I faint when see ghost up close. But ghost walk through door, we find afterward, just look like she go through wall. “Then, up on the third floor was what looked like it’s own suite,” I said, just staring ahead, “and a book, an interesting book, in it…”
Then Carine grabbed me and pushed me to the floor and she laid on top of me, just as several bullets came flying through the open window. “On the side of the hill, I see a man with gun,” said Carine. Baldwin sent some of his men up there to check. They found a man and brought him back without a fight. The man stared straight ahead, much like I had been doing. He never answered any questions. Just sat and stared. Baldwin’s men then took him away, but before they got to the car, the man grabbed a gun from one of the men and shot himself. There was no evidence he was from that gang, and Carine did not think he was either.
“It is not the way they do things,” said Carine, “they want victims to know who they are.” “Now we have another mystery to deal with,” said Kat, “who is this guy working for and why?” Just then Baldwin’s new secretary, Candace, came with our new nurse who will be working at the clinic. “My name is Kara Sommer,” she said, “I hope to be your new nurse, if I am accepted.” Since one of her first tasks would be helping to look after me right now, Kat had to give the okay to her. We already knew all about her and Kat said that she was definitely accepted.
She would be working at the clinic mostly, helping Chung and Dr. Hunter as well as looking after any of our team that might end up there from time to time. Unfortunately all this sudden activity made me forget the rest of my dream completely. I knew there was more to it, but I could remember nothing right now. “Perhaps it will come back to me later,” I said. “And you were just getting to the interesting part about that book,” said Jennifer. Kara was from Switzerland, was well trained in fighting and in handling different guns.
“Welcome to the team,” said Annelie and the others. Kat said we need to go back to that old house and maybe I will remember more about the place and why I keep dreaming about it. Oddly I never dream about my last encounter at the house with John and trading myself for Jennifer. It all had to do with our very first case. But why was that? The case was over apparently, but it seems there must have been something more. Perhaps it has something to do with that book I was reading. But it may not either.
Baldwin was now outside talking with his men about the guy who shot himself. Then there was the sound of a helicopter getting closer. Everyone figured it was one of Baldwin’s helicopters. Meow!=Chop chop not Baldwin’s! It come very low. The girls grabbed their guns and went outside to warn Baldwin. He had already taken refuge in his car as the helicopter flew low overhead. There were several explosions outside and the helicopter flew off with everyone shooting at it. But it escaped over the trees and disappeared. Twice in one day, and so close together…what does it mean?
Four smaller bombs had been dropped, but no one was hurt, however the car that Candace and Kara came in was destroyed. Kara looked. “My clothes!”, she exclaimed. Kat smiled, “don’t worry, we will buy more for you.” Kara laughed, “I guess it was kind of silly to say anything. At least no one was hurt, that is most important.” Kara would be living at the chateau, as would Candace now. Good thing this place has so many bedrooms. But somehow I feel like an outsider here. I do not know who I am. I have no past and yet I do. I am married to Kat, yet I do not know her. I feel so bad, maybe I should not even be here.
But maybe that old house will hold a clue that will bring my past back to the present. The next day all the girls were out on the lawn practicing their fighting techniques. Rock and I are watching from indoors. After a bit Annelie comes in to get something to drink. Suddenly I get that pain in my head again and start to yell and fall to my knees. Annelie came running and began massaging my neck like Carine does when this happens. “Get Carine and Kara,” she said to Rock. Off he went. Suddenly I turn, grab Annelie’s arm and throw her over my shoulder. As she tries to get up I give her a hard kick to the head, knocking her out. I spotted a gun on the table, picked it up and pointed it at my head. Meow, meow!=EEEEEEEK! “Thwock!”, MC got me and knocked me to the floor…

Good morning everyone! It is a nice morning, a little on the cloudy side, but nice. And continuing milder which is also nice. We are actually supposed to get two days this week with temps in the 34F (1C) range this week. Hard to believe really, but it sure sounds good anyway. However, we often get some very mild weather like that in February, and usually followed by a big snowstorm. That part is not so nice sounding. But I do not see anything like that in the forecast right now, so that is good.
I noticed yesterday that the fellow with the snowmobile has gone down the path to the river again, so that will make for better walking. I hope to try a walk down there tomorrow, if all goes well. However, it is going to be very windy, giving a wind chill down around -22F (-30C), so it will be a bit uncomfortable, especially right at the river. Oh well, might have to wait until Tuesday, that is when we have one of our warm days. So that will be even nicer. Warm days. That has such a nice sound to it.

Yes, I know. I like to dream of warm days. And they are still a long way off. But we’re getting there. Each day brings us closer to spring. Not much closer, but closer. Last evening I was enjoying things, Muffin was curled up with me. She was curled up, not me. I do not curl up like that. It would be nice, but not physically possible. At least not for me. I would end up breaking something if I tried that. But I digress. I also forgot what I was going to say.
Oh, right, enjoying myself. Anyway, I feel something crawling on my leg, under my pants, and I do the automatic thing, I swat it. It squished. Rather a lot. It was obviously a spider. And not a small one either. It was a big spider. Sigh. Don’t you just hate when things like that happen? Then it’s internal juices start flowing down my leg, slowly though. I really did not want to look. But I had no choice. It was not pretty. So I will not say anything more.

You probably did not want me to say this much. Neither did I, to be quite honest. It just kind of happened. Kind of ruined my nice evening too. Sigh. It is early again. Once again I beat the birds. But I am going shopping shortly so I needed an early start. It takes me an hour, sometimes 2, to get rid of the stiffness so I can start doing things, like going shopping. Well, thank you so much for stopping by, have a great Monday and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.
