Tuesday’s Tails #17.

Good morning to everyone on this cool and cloudy day! We are supposed to get more showers and thunderstorms later today. The temp is supposed to get up to 68F (20C), which is not exactly hot. I always think of thunderstorms as something that come around in hot weather, but we get them in cool weather too. And even during the winter at times. There I go mentioning that word again. I need to stop that and just talk about fall instead. Or autumn, as it is officially called. It was such a drastic change of seasons this year, just one day to the next. Nothing gradual. Oh well.

This morning I came out to the living room after getting my coffee started and as I looked outside, everything was orange looking. Haven’t seen that since the thick smoke we had a month ago. No smoke now though. I looked out the bedroom window and the whole eastern sky (clouds really) was a blazing orange. Great! Time for pictures. Back to the living room to get my camera. Muffin was playing and ran in front of me. AAAAAAA!!!! There’s me dancing on one foot trying not to get tripped while Muffin is running between my legs. Then…sigh, we’ll skip that part.

Anyway, I grab my camera and out the door I go. I forgot, however, that I had put food out for the chipmunks. So there were 4 of them on that step. There I was dancing on one foot again, trying not to step on any of these little critters. They kept running around in circles by my feet and between my legs. I was stomping around trying to keep them away from the door and finally got that closed with none getting inside. By this time a fifth chipmunk joined in the fun and I’m still dancing on one foot trying to get away from them but they keep following me. I’m sure they thought it was just a fun game.

Two Canada geese on the lake. (hey Mildred, there’s that guy with the camera again. Never any privacy around here.)

Finally the chipmunks go back to eating. I turn and look at that blazing orange sky and…it was gone. Nothing. Just ordinary clouds. Fine. I’ll take a picture of those four chipmunks eating together. Quietly I turn to get their picture and…they were gone, all of them. Sigh. So I came back inside. How do things like that happen? Oh well. If everything had gone smoothly I wouldn’t have much to write about. I actually see some patches of blue sky out there right now. Maybe I’ll get some pictures yet. Have a wonderful day everyone and God bless!
