For a smile as wide as a country sunrise

Hi everyone, welcome back! Today’s wildflower is the “smooth blue aster”. We have several different species of asters in this area, however, this will be the last one shown since several of them are so similar that it’s hard to see the difference in a picture. This pic was taken on a cloudy day and was the only plant around. The next day was sunny, but the plant was gone, ripped out of the ground! They are a fairly common aster however, but not along the path to the river. Anyway, it likes sunny locations, in dry open forested areas and fields, also in prairies. It is a native wildflower that grows from 1 to 3 feet (30 to 90cm) tall and blooms from August to October, even later in more southern areas. It does good in a wildflower garden and is great for late season pollinating insects. The flowers are about 1 inch (2.5cm) across with 15 to 30 petals. They can be found across Canada except on the east coast, and across the US except in California. I hope you have a wonderful day and God bless!

I thought Kat was going to hit me! “It’s just an act,” I told her, “we posed as a newlywed couple to hopefully throw off the organization we were up against. It didn’t work too well. They seemed to know everything we were doing before we did it.” “Yes,” said Candace, “there is a serious leak in our organization that we have to stop quickly.” At that point Baldwin could see that Anthony was falling asleep, so he took him to the room at the back of the plane that had a bed. “I just don’t understand it though,” said Candace, “how did anyone find out some of this information?” “I was wondering about that too,” I added, “little clues along the way kept pointing in one direction. That direction was toward your brother.”
“But he doesn’t know I’m alive,” said Candace, “no one does.” “I disagree with that,” I said, “your family has been killed one after the other, until now there are only 3 heirs to your dad’s fortune and organization. That is you, Anthony and your brother. It was all set up to kill you and Anthony together in that house. And to kill the cats and I too since we had gotten in the way and could expose all this to the police. So we had to be killed as well. You’ll notice that no one has ever tried to kill your brother.” “I thought it was because he had nothing to do with our family or the business,” said Candace quietly.
Baldwin came back and said Anthony was sleeping. “Did you explain it all?”, he asked. “Not quite,” I said, then I turned to Candace, “you and Anthony are going into hiding while Kat, the cats, and I, go back to deal with things.” Candace just looked. Then I told her the whole story. She continued staring, then said, “you need me along Steve, it won’t work otherwise. And don’t worry, I know my job, I’m well trained, and I made a promise to dad that I would protect Anthony and you, no matter what. And that’s what I’m going to do. I agree with having Anthony go into hiding, I just hope it works.”
“It will work, none of us will know where Anthony is going, except Baldwin, who will be going with him, therefore no one will be able to find him. We’ll be landing soon and the 3 of us, with the cats, will get off, then the jet will continue it’s journey. But you still have a few minutes to change your mind.” “I won’t be changing my mind, I’m in this to the end, whatever that is,” she said with determination. Soon the jet touched down at an airport and off we went while the jet took off to it’s destination. A car was waiting for us and soon we were driving toward our destination as well. “By now they know we were not killed in that explosion, so they will be looking for us,” I said, “and most likely watching your organization’s headquarters, but somehow we need to get in there.”

“I know a secret way into the building Steve,” said Candace, “there’s an underground tunnel from another building, and that building is not one of ours, so no one should be watching that one, unless…. Mew.=Oh, secret tunnel, more fun. Mew,mew.=Me getting to not like secret passageways, always lead to trouble. Mew.=Hmm, you have point, but look like we going that way anyhow. Mew,mew.=Yep, we going to turn into ghosts yet. Mew?=You still trust human Candace Honey? Mew,mew=Yep, still trust her that she good, but not sure she able to do job this time. Mew.=Me too think so, I say she hesitate at end, we need to watch. Mew,mew.=Yep, me agree.

“And how come I can’t understand what you are saying right now?”, asked Candace as she looked at the cats. “Don’t worry,” I said, “they are talking in mew instead of meow, I even have a hard time with that one.” Candace just looked puzzled again. “But why are they doing that?”, she asked. “Because they don’t want us humans to know what they are saying. Probably they are going over their part in this next phase.” She still looked puzzled but seemed satisfied. We stop at a hotel in a small town, they only have one room available, which seemed a bit odd, but at least it was a large room. There was a lot of people walking around in the hotel. We ordered some food brought to the room, then it was time to sleep. The cats and I took turns watching, I didn’t want any surprises from outside…or inside.
