For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone on this beautiful Monday! It was so nice on the deck at 5 this morning, Sir Henry was here for his breakfast, the wren from next door was sitting in the tree singing loudly. It’s amazing how such a tiny bird can sing so loud. The squirrels are busy chasing each other away from the peanuts and while they are doing that the chipmunks are running away with the peanuts. The winning squirrel comes back and looks all around for his peanuts but finds nothing. Then Pocket shows up, bad idea, the squirrel takes off in a dash. Poor Pocket learns how to fly but has a rough landing in my landlord’s wheelbarrow. Meanwhile the squirrel, Gopher by name, also tried flying, missed the wheelbarrow but landed on his nose on the ground and just kind of stood there a bit shocked. The place where they jumped off the deck is 6 feet (close to 2 meters) off the ground.
The poor chipmunks, they have 3 squirrels to deal with every day as they try to get their peanuts for winter. The chipping sparrow family is out now, with 4 young ones, being taught how to find their own food. The song sparrows also have their young out of the nest now, though I’m not quite sure how many they have in their family. Sitting here, enjoying my morning coffee is just so nice. Summer morning is such a beautiful time. Yesterday it was 30C (86F) but with the humidity it felt more like 38C (100F). Today is supposed to be the same. This is my kind of weather, but there are thunderstorms coming in today as well so that’s not good news. Especially for Muffin.

Both flower pics today, this one and the featured image at the top, are geraniums from my little deck garden. I hope you all have a great start to your week and God bless!

Summer morn, with sunrise bright,
Filling all around with light.
Clapping leaves, in brilliant green,
Sky so blue completes the scene.
Summer morn, so fresh and clear,
Such a time, it is so dear.
Birds that sing from morn till night,
Chorus loud, that sounds just right.
Summer morn, with beauty bold,
Enjoying this, ne’er grows old.
O’er each lake and rocky hill,
Summer morn, so calm and still.
