Happy Father’s Day!

Hello once again everyone! I know I said if before so I won’t repeat it, besides, it’s in the title! Wasn’t really sure what to do for Father’s Day this year so decided on a pictorial tribute to my dad who was also my best friend. They run from the time of his teen’s when he caught a nice jack fish (northern pike) that was 44 and a half inches long (about 1 meter, 11cm) and out giving his dog a bath when my dad was about 18 and when he joined the air force at 19 during WWII and playing baseball as a pitcher during the 1940s.

Then, moving onward we have dad enjoying a nice leisurely game of golf, miniature style. Then a couple picks of my dad doing some carpentry work which he loved to do, first fixing the roof of our house, then building a cottage. Finally followed by a time that dad and I were out looking for buried treasure during a time when we were both interested in metal detectors. That pic was at the location of an old Hudson Bay trading post and we did find some stuff likely from that place.

It’s quite amazing, that with all the times we spent together with our adventures, there are few pics of dad and I together. I did, however, lose some when my apartment flooded and that was sad. But there it is….

Good morning everyone! Happy Father’s Day to all you fathers out there! And if you have a father, make sure you get in touch with him today, maybe do something nice for, or perhaps with, him today. It is a rather wet morning here once again, but mild anyway. However, it was raining a bit too much for sitting outside this morning, so today I sit inside with the window open so I can listen to all the birds who are not singing because it’s raining too much. Well, the robin was still singing, didn’t hear any smaller birds however. But the rain has stopped momentarily so the birds have really opened up with a loud chorus of different songs. Even the sun has found a small open spot in the clouds and is now shining brightly on the trees. Looks so very nice. There was thunder throughout the night and early this morning, so Muffin was not at all happy. But she has finally come out and eaten her breakfast and is now enjoying her morning nap.

The catbird is around with his mewing which even attracts Muffin’s attention. It would be nice to get a picture of that one, but he only rarely comes out in the open, but I have seen it 3 times this year so far, so perhaps it will happen yet. The sky has cleared completely now, the sun is warm and inviting, the birds are still singing, the squirrels are fighting. And they really do fight those little critters. There are 3 of them again, a new squirrel joined the group yesterday and seems to be a good match for Woody, though I’m sure Woody doesn’t like that so much. Poor Gopher gets chased by both of them since she is the smallest of the 3. The 3 chipmunks try to get in and pick up some peanuts in between the squirrels chasing each other. But twice Woody has also chased the chipmunks. Two baby chipmunks showed up yesterday as well, but they haven’t yet learned about the peanuts. I’m sure they will soon. The top pic is my little chipmunk friend Skamper.

In the above pic is Woody who must have been tired that day, his eyes gradually closed as he was eating and he actually just sat there motionless for a moment, then suddenly woke up and continued eating.

And in this last pic, above, is Mama D. She is showing up a bit more often these days, but just by herself, she didn’t have a baby this year. I was really hoping she would so I could get a pic of a small fawn. Oh well, didn’t happen this year. I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!
