For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Singing their songs, one by one,
Birds are having so much fun.
On a branch or on the ground,
Songs of beauty can be found.
Some are singing way up high,
Some hide from view, being shy.
All are dressed with feathers fine,
Singing now before they dine.
Tiny birds with songs abound,
Filling all the air around.
Spreading joy with every song,
Whether short or very long.
Oh, the beauty they all share
With us, pause, and see it there.

Good morning everyone! It’s such a beautiful morning today. Most of the leaves are fully out now. The sun is shining on those leaves causing them to glow a most beautiful bright green. It’s much nicer sitting on the deck this morning than it was yesterday. Sir George and Lady Pearl were both here this morning which means they now have young in the nest so it’s okay for both to leave at the same time. Sir George came down first, then Lady Pearl after he left. The crows are scared of Sir George, but Lady Pearl is smaller and since there are 7 crows they tried to push her off the feeder by sheer numbers. Sir George didn’t like that so he came back down and let the crows know he wasn’t too happy. That one crow lost some feathers that time. Then he stood guard while she ate, then he finished the remainder, so the crows lost out this morning. They learned a valuable lesson, leave Lady Pearl alone.
There is a vireo singing out here this morning, a simple but beautiful song. Then there is the phoebe still hiding in the bushes somewhere. A tree swallow is flying overhead looking for insects and chattering all the while. Time for another cup of coffee. Mmmm, that’s so nice. There is also a black-throated green warbler singing and another warbler that I can’t quite place a name on. An ovenbird is singing across the street, a small bird with a loud song. All the regular birds are at the feeders, goldfinches, pine siskins and purple finches. Plus a female hairy woodpecker comes all the time now getting sunflower seeds for her young. Oddly I haven’t seen the male around lately, I hope nothing has happened to him. That will make her job a lot harder.
And now for some nice bright flowers to enjoy…

In the above photo we have a beautiful Iceland poppy, which comes in 5 different colors that I know of, but my landlord only has 3 colors in her gardens.

And in the above photo is one other color of the Iceland poppy. There is also a bright yellow which I will show another time, just waiting for them to bloom. There we have our brightly colored flowers for today. I hope you all have a great day and God bless!
