For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hi everyone! I haven’t had a coffee time post in quite a while, time just seems to be flying by so fast these days. It is a cooler, heavy overcast day here, with rain. It isn’t a real heavy kind of rain, but it’s steady, and it’s a cold feeling rain. It makes for a damp cold that just penetrates through a person. It is just 39F (4C). It’s a great day to stay indoors and drink coffee. Lots of coffee. Or maybe tea. Or hot chocolate.
Maybe I should have a cup of hot chocolate this afternoon. I can’t drink regular hot chocolate anymore, but I found some that I can drink. It’s hot chocolate that has no chocolate, or dairy of any kind, or gluten. But it still tastes like hot chocolate. It’s actually very good. I am going to do a few posts listing some of my favorite things. Like today.

Black-Capped Chickadee on my hand.
This time I will share some photos of a few favorite small birds. This is not a complete list of my favorites, I like all the small birds. And medium birds. And large birds. I just like birds. Even when I was a kid. I used to get up early in late spring and especially in summer, before anyone else. Then if it was a nice morning I would open my bedroom window and listen to the birds singing.

Boreal Chickadee on my hand.
I didn’t know very many birds at the time, but I did enjoy the singing. I could identify robins, and especially mourning doves. I think those doves were my favorites at the time. I loved their mourning call. I thought it sounded so nice. I still do, although we don’t have many mourning doves in our area.

Red-Breasted Nuthatch on my hand.
They were plentiful where we lived further west when I was a kid. I haven’t heard any in this part of town, but they were always around where I lived prior to moving here. Their mournful call can carry for a long distance. I still think it’s very beautiful. However, it’s not one of the small birds, it’s a medium bird.
So I might end up showing it another time. But chickadees, nuthatches, redpolls, pine siskins, goldfinches, those are small birds that I will be showing today. At least some of them anyway. And so many different sparrows. I might show sparrows as a separate list another time too. Lots of possibilities. I don’t really get to see, or hear, many small birds in this area. Even when I go for a walk.

Female Common Redpoll.
My geraniums are slowing down a bit in their blooming now, so I am going to try taking cuttings from them and start some new plants. Hopefully. Lots of people do that. Quite successfully. My mom always did it too. And my grandmother. They never had problems. I am not very successful at it. Terrible really. Okay, it doesn’t usually work for me. I have done it at times.

Pine Siskin.
But 9 times out of 10 it won’t work. That is not a good success rate. I have no trouble growing geraniums. But starting them from cuttings doesn’t work well for me. I can start other plants from cuttings and it works great. But not geraniums. However, I am going to try again. They have grown so big over the winter and they really need to be trimmed anyway.
So, why not use those trimmings to get new plants? I will let you know if I am successful this year or not. Oh well. It’s still raining. Time to vacuum. Then have my hot chocolate. Have a great day everyone and God bless!

No one really knew what to expect with Sky sharing her blood with me, even Kat wasn’t sure how my body would react to it. But it was the only way. Samantha was on the video with Bridgette, right from before hooking Sky and myself together, making sure everything was being done just right. This was the first time for Bridgette doing this on her own, though she had helped Samantha before on a couple of occasions.
Jennifer stayed on the other video screen, along with Misty and Galyna who were on each side of Jennifer giving her support. This was hard on her not being with me at this time. Kat was now in the other small room with Aari and Dawn, working on their wounds. Those two were the most seriously wounded of our team, next to me, so she needed to help them quickly too.
Suddenly Bridgette called Kat, “Steve died! He died Kat!” Kat went running into our room and told Bridgette to leave, she would take over now. Bridgette looked up at the screen and told Jennifer that I had died. There was a chilling silence in the plane when she said this. Cristy called Mandar right away, but he was in a business meeting at his office. However, Richard put the call through.
“Richard, I said no calls whatever,” said Mandar. “It’s Cristy Sir, you will want to take this call,” said Richard. He did and was completely silent. He then ordered everyone out of the room and cancelled the meeting. Cristy then called Jazzy and told her the news. Jazzy is a tough, very hard woman, who, with her late husband Toledo, spent a long time trying to kill me.
Yet, hearing this news actually caused her to cry. She then called someone. “Warren, now is the time,” she said, “kill Rico and whoever is his number 2 man, and do it now.” “It won’t be cheap Jazzy,” he said, “rush orders cost more.” “I don’t care, do it now,” she said again, choking up a bit. “You okay Jazz?” he asked. “Rico killed a good friend of mine,” she said, “don’t worry, you will have your money as soon as it’s done.”
“I never worry when you hire me Jazz,” he said, “Rico is dead when he arrives at his club later today.” Sure enough, Rico arrived at his club like he always did at 4pm. Both Rico and his new right hand man got out of Rico’s car and as they began to walk away from the car, with 8 bodyguards, a nearly silent shot was fired and Rico fell.
A second shot immediately followed and Luis, Snakebite’s replacement, fell also. Rico and Luis died at the same time by making two big mistakes, being punctual and arriving together. “I got them both for you Jazzy,” said Warren, “and thanks for the prompt payment, I already checked.” “I told you it would be there on time,” she said.
“I also heard some news today,” said Warren, “Rico was heading to Honduras tomorrow to take control of the whole cartel from his brother Carlo. It appears that Carlo was out driving his brand new sports car, lost control and went over a steep drop into a ravine and died in the crash. So, Rico figured on an easy takeover. Now I guess their cousin, Jorge, will take over everything.”
“Not if you can get to him,” said Jazzy. “That will be easy,” said Warren, “Jorge doesn’t have the sense of a rabbit.” “Good, then go rabbit hunting Warren,” she said. “I’ll let you know when it’s done Jazz,” he said. That’s getting a little ahead of things now, so we will go back to us on the plane. Kat had come into the room with Sky and I still hooked up together.
Bridgette had done everything that Samantha told her to do, but nothing had worked to get my heart beating again. Bridgette went out to the main room and began to check on the wounded that were in beds there. The only sounds were that of the jet until Bridgette called some of the cats to come and purr for the wounded team members, just to help them feel more comfortable.
Several of the girls had their cats with them and Sherry was cuddling Fluffy. Cynthia had stayed behind at home but sent her cat, Midnight, along with us. He spotted Sherry and Fluffy and came over to them. Meow.= Me want to help Fluffy cuddle you. Sherry smiled and picked him up and cuddled both of them. The jet had landed in Florida to refuel and then was off was again.
After 2 hours Kat came back out, looked up at Jennifer and smiled briefly. “You need to relax and get some sleep little sister,” she said, “and stop worrying. Steve is alive and I think I can keep him that way.” Carine had been helping with Aari and Dawn while Kat was with Sky and me. Carine doesn’t have that “healing touch” that Kat has, but she can still help with some things.
Kat had already gotten things started with Dawn and Aari, so she was just keeping things going. It’s a good thing our ghosts don’t need to rest like we do, so Kat was still quite fresh and able to run back and forth easily between patients. Sienna collapsed under the pressure, blaming herself for all of this. There is still a long flight home and no one knows exactly what is in store for me…
To Be Continued.
