Coffee With Steve And Muffin.

Hello once again everyone on this very beautiful sunny day!  It has been such a nice, warm week with plenty of sunshine, but today, although the sun continues to shine, the north wind is blowing and it has gotten much cooler.  Still, with the sun shining on the deck, which is also sheltered nicely from the wind, it is quite pleasant indeed.  And I have plenty of nice hot coffee available for a little extra warmth.  For those who don’t like coffee, which is so hard to imagine, I also have some nice hot mint or raspberry leaf tea, plus some hot chocolate available.

Poor Sylvester trying hard to push a rather large peanut into his cheek.

I first should point out the lovely cherry tree next door which also spills its many branches over the fence to our side.  Just look at those deep pink blossoms starting to open.  And the buds are almost a dark red in color.  It will still take a couple more days to be fully covered in blooms so hopefully the sun will stay around to get some nice pictures of this tree.  Even the apple tree is almost ready to start blooming as well.  That poor apple tree is much smaller since the bear broke it in half last year.  Those bears love apples.  The bear was around a couple nights this week again and made a big mess out on my deck.  Why does he keep coming back?  There is no food out there for him.  I think he just likes to look in the window at Muffin and scare the poor cat.

Irises are out now, such a beautiful flower.

There are quite a few flowers blooming around the area now.  The pincherry across the street is blooming nicely.  That is a nice wild berry tree with delicious orange red berries that make great jelly and syrup.  I used to make both at one time, but they just don’t produce berries like they used to.  Mainly because there is not enough bees around to pollinate them properly, therefore, not many berries are produced.

A beautiful white Iceland poppy.

There are lots of wild strawberries blooming now, might get quite a few berries this year. There isn’t enough to really do much since wild strawberries are quite small.  But they are good on my cereal in the morning, put on top of a bowl of oatmeal.  Fantastic.  Hopefully my landlord doesn’t cut them down.  She considers them weeds.  Sigh.  The birds just scattered.  Look, over in that tree.  It’s a broad-winged hawk.  He’s a beautiful bird, but a terror for the smaller birds.  This is one of our forest hawks who loves to dine on birds.  They must be nesting somewhere not far away since he comes around now and then.  There go the crows chasing that hawk away.  And just before I was going to get a picture of him too.  Maybe next time.  I have missed 3 times now, that’s bad.

The squirrel feeder gets busy at times. Here we have a female goldfinch and 3 pine siskins. There are 2 more on the other side.

There are still a few birds coming around to my, um, squirrel feeder.  There is a couple pairs of chickadees nesting close by and are coming daily for food.  They are looking much thinner these days then they do in winter.  The goldfinches are also nesting close by.  They are always so nice to see in their cheery bright yellow outfit.

Isn’t he a beautiful bird? The male goldfinch.

Well, it was nice to have you stop by for coffee once again!  It’s always a treat to have you visit us here and I hope you have enjoyed your coffee time.  Perhaps next time you come we will take a walk down to the lake for our coffee break.  Until then, I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!

Steve and Muffin.

    • Thanks so much Huguette for your great comment!! My sister in law one time asked my Dad if he wanted coffee or tea, he said both. That’s what she gave him, both in one cup, he nearly choked!😂I like goldfinches, but they are not easy to make friends with. It has turned out to be a nice day even though not as warm but with the sun shining it still feels good. I probably won’t post this weekend unless I get caught up on my reading.😂😹I hope you have a great weekend and that it’s sunny and warm.😁🌞😸

      • Oh yes it’s a summer weather! Not warm but hot 🙄 already even though it stills Spring but I don’t usually mind at all 😊
Seems you’re managing with these goldfinches which is great 😺 and nope make the coffee and hot chocolate in separate cups please 😂😂 don’t want to ruin both flavors 😁
I’m sure you will manage and all will be done 👍😊
Have a great sunny day 🌞🌞😺

      • I never like to complain about hot weather here since we get so little. Even this week we have had temps in the mid 20s and people were already complaining it’s too hot! So many people here prefer temps under 20C which is remarkable. I tell them, just move further north and you will get your wish. But then they complain the winter would be too cold, of course they already say that. At least I’m consistent, I only complain about the cold!😂😂😹😹🥶Have a wonderful weekend Huguette!

Under 20 is freezing for me 😁
Same to you dear Steve 😊 hope your weekend will be great 😺😺🌞🌞

    • Hi Margo! Yes it certainly is energizing for sure! Thanks for stopping by today! Would you be interested in doing the Traveling Blog Journal like I did with my Canada tour? I’m looking for someone to carry on with it, it’s a chance to promote your country a bit and have some fun too. Let me know if you would like to participate and I will put your name on the blog. Thanks so much!😄🌞

  3. Sounds like a lovely day. Beautiful birds, flowers and fruit blooming. Today is friday and we finally have an entire weekend in New York City with warm temperature. The warmth of the sun is a welcome sight after so much rain and dampness. I plan to take a ferry ride on Sunday and take in the sights.🍷 cheers to mother nature and her glory.🌸

    • Thanks so much for stopping by and for your nice comment! The ferry ride sounds nice. We have a tour boat on the lake here that does 2 hour cruises around the north part of the lake, I think today is the first day of the summer season for that. Nature is surely beautiful, especially this time of the year! Enjoy your weekend!😃😺

  4. Hello, Steve and Muffin! We’re enjoying our coffee, as well. Coffee is my favorite beverage! Our temps are in the mid to high eighties. Seems spring has got up and gone.

  5. I see you get your Cherry and Apple blossoms about a month after ours. It is so lovely to see the trees in bloom and even lovelier when you can catch a bird in the blooming trees.

    • Yes, would like to get a bird in that cherry tree but might lose my opportunity since it’s supposed to rain tomorrow. The blooming here is a bit later than normal, but yours probably was too. Quite a difference from one end of the province to the other.😁
