Smart Chipmunks…A Poem.

Watching the chipmunks, listening to rain, feeling the pain, touched the brain.  And out came this poem.  I hope you will enjoy it.

Smart Chipmunks

Chipmunks running all around,

Hiding peanuts underground.

Finding food, getting ready,

This winter they’ll be ready.

When it’s raining still they go,

Quickly now before the snow.

They will soon now go and hide

In their homes, and there abide.

Right now going in the rain,

Idea comes from their brain.

Get some wood and build an ark,

Fill with peanuts dawn till dark.

It rains nearly every day,

So they are smart, I do say.

Smarter still, they stay inside,

From winter’s cold they will hide!

    • Thanks for reading! They are amazingly cute, that’s true. That’s not really the best chipmunk country, perhaps closer to the river there would be more. Gray squirrels will actually kill chipmunks.

Quickly hurry, quickly scurry | Hide that tail it’s so furry |Chipmunks like to stay inside since winter makes them wanna hide | Away from flurries, the chipmunks fear | As winter’s coming, it’s oh so near | troubled their little faces show | the peanuts they stole from Steve’s porch below | Let them have free will you’ll see | these peanuts make them squeak with glee! 🐿

      • @Dragon Warrior To be completely honest, I spent yesterday evening crying and I’m quite sad these days. I had to go on another minimalist decluttering spree on my phone to simplify things, and hopefully regain focus so that I can spend time on the things that matter. I’m hoping to do some light yoga later today. I twisted a couple of muscles doing Pilates so I’m in quite a bit of pain right now.

      • @Dragon Warrior Give it until April 2021 and I might feel better by then. In the meantime, I’m not a very happy, cheerful person even though my persona on WordPress suggests that I usually am. Just taking things day by day since that’s all I can do in the meantime. Much of these circumstances are out of my control. There are some things in life that we have little to no control over. Thank you for your well wishes and empathy. I appreciate it ♥️

    It’s really a great poem! You certainly have a great connection with nature and her children…!
    You know last night I thought a lot about you and wondered if you were okay? How are you? How is Muffin? And the chipmunks?
    Summer is gone, sadly…
    It’s autumn where I live and mild and cool and sunny…

    • Hi Sophie! Thank you so much, great to have you stop by again! Muffin is doing well and the chipmunks are still busy gathering peanuts, although they will soon be going to their little dens for the winter, usually by early Oct.🙂🐿 Autumn arrived here a month ago now, the leaves are changing color. 🍁🍂
      I’m not doing very well, I have an inflamed disk (swollen disk) which is pressing on my sciatic nerve. That is giving me terrible pain and making it hard to walk.😕 It could take 2 or 3 months to get back to normal. I hope it is quicker than that though. My Saturday is just starting and it’s a nice sunny day. Too bad I can’t enjoy it!😂🙄
      I hope your weekend is going well, so nice to hear from you!😁🌞🍁🍂 Muffin says, meow, meow, meowww!!😸😹😻😽

      • Oh, thank you so very much! I truly appreciate your kind thoughts! I really hope it’s a speedy recovery, it’s so hard doing things this way. Muffin knows there is something wrong and likes to come and cuddle with me.
        Soon all the colors will be out nice and bright, but it doesn’t last long, maybe a week or so, then it looks kind of barren until spring. Fortunately we have lots of pine, spruce, cedar and balsam that stay green all year. That helps a lot. Enjoy your weekend Sophie and thanks for stopping by to talk!😁😸😻🍁🍂🌲

    • Thank you so very much! They definitely are cute little animals and so friendly. It is a beautiful sunny day here and should be for a couple more days before heading back to rain. And temps up around 80 for Monday and Tuesday! I hope I’m feeling better by then so I can get out and enjoy it!😃😺🌞🍁🍂
