For a smile as wide as a country sunrise

Hi everyone and welcome back! It was a nice sunny day here, but the clouds have returned once again and a little snow is expected overnight. Then it’s back to that frosty cold for a couple days, and nights. But for now it’s time to return to a more summer like post and enjoy another look at the amazing acrobatic dragonfly.
Though the dragonfly wings look very fragile, they are actually very strong. They are supported by a network of veining on their wings as seen in the picture which helps to give them strength.
The above dragonfly is another one with those forward pointing wings. This one is a different color and also larger than the others shown previously. Dragonflies provide a good service in that they eat many other insects, most of which are harmful. A normal size dragonfly can eat hundreds of mosquitoes each day. Flies are another favorite meal for these insects.
Dragonflies, as we saw before, can fly very fast and they do so with minimal wing beats, much slower than that of flies, bees or mosquitoes. And they are capable of flying against a very strong wind. Dragonflies will also eat flying ants, grasshoppers and even butterflies and other dragonflies. Just depends on the availability of food. But their favorite remains mosquitoes and flies of every description.
That’s it for this week’s look at this amazing insect. I hope you have a nice relaxing day and God bless!

Thanks! Braved the shops today clutching my attestation. Luckily everything I wanted was in plentiful supply but I did note there had been a bit of a run on pasta and tinned vegetables.

Shelves are still empty at stores here though there is still fresh fruit and veggies, but frozen veggies, meat, pasta, and tinned goods were gone. Plus all cleaning supplies. Can’t get my gluten free food anywhere, a 3 to 5 week wait for it apparently. I will need to go on a diet I guess.😂

Can you not order it on Amazon?

All sold out on Amazon too, a one month wait there as well. All because people are hoarding and buying everything possible that will keep a long time.

Blimey! Shame you’re not over here.

You can still get gluten free? I don’t know why things are so crazy over here.

Me neither! Why can’t people be sensible.

Yes, if people would just shop normally we would all have enough.

It seems to be a similar problem in UK. It’s all me, me, me.

Yes, that’s the problem. I’m not sure what I’ll do once I run out. I’ll just get sick if I eat regular food. Oh well, wait until it happens I guess.

Your photos reminds us of our childhood memories where we just chase and catch dragonflies and where time does not exist. 🙂 Thanks for following our Blog as well. Continue to inspire more people! Cheers! Kris and Aileen
