Good morning everyone!  How are you all on this Monday?  This post marks the 300th post here on Steve’s Country this year!  A new milestone for Muffin and I!  Although for some reason she didn’t seem to be too excited by the fact.  Actually, she yawned.  Sometimes her timing for things is uncanny.  Like she really knows what I’m saying.  I know she doesn’t, but still, the timing can be amazing.  The days are getting so nice and long now.  It isn’t fully dark until after 9 pm.  And morning, according to Muffin, begins at 4 am.  I do like to get up early during the summer, but it’s still dark at 4 am right now. But she gets up even earlier so by 4 she is full of energy, doing her kangaroo dance all over the bed…and me.  I open an eye and she starts to purr.  I close my eye and she licks my nose.  So, I move a little, she thinks I’m getting up and jumps off the bed.  Hmm, not bad.  Except it doesn’t work, if I don’t get up, she’s back up and so we’re now both up.  Oh well, nothing wrong with a longer day, get more done, providing I can stay awake.

Above we have the common loon, one of my all time favorite birds.  If you have never heard the call of the loon, you are really missing a treat.IMG_3523

Above we have a male merganser standing up and flapping it’s wings.  Perhaps showing off a bit for his mate?  Probably not as I have seen them do this even when they are alone.  There we have our pics for today, thanks for stopping by, stay safe, have a great Monday and God bless!

    • Thanks Ribana! Muffin and I have our times. It all helps me to give her personality in the mystery stories.
      Yes, a month from now the sun will be shining at 4am, so then it will be okay to wake up at that time.

  6. In places farther from the equator , the days get much longer and the twilights times are longer …
    I love something is the northren or polar light in the nights there in places closer to the north pole …

  10. What? Day time until 9 pm 🙄😕 that’s great!! We have more day time to do more work. I totally get it why I get posts so early in your morning, Muffin helps you do that, may be she is even blessed understanding what you are talking 😉😂 beautiful pictures Steve ✨🤗 I thought penguin got wings then found out it’s a bird in motion 😜😂.     • Yes, I’m having my lunch right now, then out for a walk while the sun shines. Once summer is here the sun shines from about 3:30am to 9:30pm, but daylight from 3am to about 10:30pm. It is so nice.😀🌞🤸‍♂️ Penguin, wish I had thought of that.🤔😂
