For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning to each of you! The coffee is ready, so please, just help yourself, sit back and relax for the next few minutes. It is a nice morning, 25F (-4C), the sky is mostly blue, just a few clouds here and there. Plus, the sun should be shining brightly in just a little while. And it’s going to be a beautiful 37F (3C) today! I must get out and enjoy it since this warmth will not be with us for very long and we get back to more normal winter temps, for this time of year, by Thursday. The blue jays were here for their breakfast, but for some reason they come later than they normally do in winter.
The chickadees were here first before it was really daylight, they like to start early. The nuthatch and redpolls were not far behind them today. Even the hairy and downy woodpeckers have been here which is early for them. But there just isn’t many birds of each variety this year. Perhaps they didn’t have a good year for nesting. There are lots of ducks this year, at least 3 or 4 flocks of them fly past each morning as they head to the river to fish for the day. Then in late afternoon they head back down onto the lake for sleeping. There are quite a few bald eagles still here as well, but there always are eagles that stay the winter. No sign of Jasper and Jenny yet this morning. They were around enjoying chasing each other again yesterday. Well, Jasper was doing the chasing. Jenny is definitely faster. Jasper knows the trees better and takes shortcuts and large jumps so he gets close at times, but then Jenny gets a new burst of speed and leaves Jasper behind.
Sometimes he just stops when he sees that, needs to rest I guess, and then she will stop as well. She doesn’t want to get too far ahead. The trees are still nicely frosted so I’m hoping to get some pics before it melts off today. And it will likely melt fast when that sun comes out and I notice the sun is just touching the tops of the trees now. Today I have some more pics from down at the river to share. Well, it’s always nice to see everyone, thank you so much for stopping in again today. Muffin will be back a bit later with her weekly Mewsings, we hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.

I was still about a meter away from the edge in those pics. Because of the moss and pine needles it would not have been safe to go closer. And I was sitting on a root from one of the large pine trees, so I was holding that, that gave me one hand to hold the camera. I know, I’m crazy, but taking precautions now at least.

Yes, that’s very true. I had a good walk today, didn’t make it all the way to the river though, hard walking through the snow. But I’ll try again tomorrow hopefully.๐๐ถโโ๏ธ๐ท

I would guess that path can get a bit slippery…

Did the snow or ice on trees melt in the cloudy weather ?

Yes it did, so I didn’t get any good pictures of the trees. Perhaps another time.๐

My landlord does a bit, but she’s not too serious about it.

Whisper , whisper , whisper my dear ,
God isย so lovingly close and near ,
The ground has an ear ,
And it can deeply hear ,
What you say soundsย a voice so clear,
before the clouds shed an enormous tear ,
Theย winds wouldย ย put a gear ,
With divine mercy , have no place for fear …
Rivers can flow with water inย a vessel swiftlyย in a path to steer,
Energy goes with life in a stream,ย
They water the lands every year ,
Merrily everywhere in the now here…
