Coffee At Steve’s Country #9.

Good morning on this beautiful Saturday everyone! The coffee is ready, Muffin is eagerly waiting while running around like a wildcat playing with her mousey! It’s cloudy and mild again today, we had ice fog overnight so the trees look beautiful this morning. It’s just too bad that pictures don’t really show that beauty when it’s cloudy, that frosty look is hidden with that dull gray background of clouds. It takes the beauty of blue sky to really see those trees in their beauty as well. There is supposed to be ice fog again tonight and at least partial blue skies tomorrow so perhaps there will be a chance for some pics. The birds are very active this morning, the evening grosbeaks have returned again which is so nice.

Here we see the south side of the river that doesn’t get much sun.

The chickadees were first this morning, followed by the redpolls, nuthatches, woodpeckers and blue jays. There wasn’t much time difference between them this morning either. The grosbeaks were last showing up but were here earlier than normal anyway. Their brilliant yellow, like lights, covering the bird feeder. Apparently they are not very abundant around town this winter. I have around 45 coming to my feeder, though I just can’t seem to get a completely accurate number since they always fly off before I finish counting them. And there are always some in the trees waiting for their turn at the feeder. But I’m definitely close in my count anyway. Hmm, something really scared them that time and they are now gone.

Here we have the north side which gets a lot of sunshine, quite a difference.

Saturday is scenery day for pics so I am sharing some more from the river. As long as the weather stays nice I will be walking down to the river as often as possible. It’s a nice walk, and a place to get pics of some different wildlife, mainly birds, but perhaps something else as well. Once the weather turns cold however, that might put an end to walking down there. I have good hiking boots for walking, but they only have a temp rating of -15C (5F) which is not very cold. I can keep myself warm other than that, but I like warm feet too. It’s kind of important. But so far the weather has been nice so there’s no problem. This is actually my first winter walking down to the river. I only found out about this path in the spring of 2019, and last winter as you probably remember, I wasn’t doing any walking for 5 months due to injuring myself in the fall of that year, on this same path. Anyway, it’s a great place to walk. I hope you enjoy the pics, have a wonderful day and God bless!
