Steve And Muffin’s Wildflowers #43.

Hi everyone and welcome to another wildflower, this time the “Broad-leaved Arrowhead”. As you can see from the picture, these wildflowers like water and will grow right in water, in swamps, streams and lakes. It is a native wildflower and the plants can grow up to 4 feet tall, though oftentimes most of that is underwater. They will grow in sun mostly, but also in partly shaded areas. They bloom from July to September and can be found right across Canada and the US. There are both male and female flowers, the ones in the picture are male flowers and being visited by a flower fly. The flowers are about 1 inch (2.5cm) across. There are several different arrowhead wildflowers, this one being the most common and most widespread of the different species. Have a wonderful day everyone and God bless!

Steve and Muffin.
