Wednesday’s Wanderings #11.

Good morning everyone on this glowing smokey morning! Lots of smoke around again, last evening it was so thick out here it was hard to see across the street for a while. There’s a new fire close to us, just about 8 miles away from where I live which is now listed as “being held”, but not under control as yet. It is still a small fire though and they are working hard to get that one out quickly. There are now 79 forest fires burning in our part of Ontario. Three communities have had to evacuate, another community may have to evacuate soon, depending on the weather and how quickly fires move.

I have not been able to get a really nice pic of a tiger swallowtail butterfly the last 3 summers, even though lots are around. But my good friend Nina gave me this beautiful picture to use, thank you so much Nina.

There are 2 fires fairly close to that town and it looks like they will join into one fire soon which will make it about 370,000 acres in size. That’s a big fire. Right now the largest fire is about 200,000 acres and it has been growing at the rate of about 40,000 to 50,000 acres a day the last 3 days. Hot and dry weather is in the forecast for us for the next 7 days anyway. Slim discovered I meant what I said if he kept chasing my chipmunks. He got a free trip into the raspberry patch. He came back up scratching. Skamper was here getting some peanuts later and Slim spotted him and began the chase.

But I was there and he immediately stopped. Skamper, who had started to run, also stopped and came back for the remainder of his peanuts. Then he scampered off while Slim sat over by the stairs watching. I told him he could then come and get a peanut, which he did very cautiously, and ran off with it. He didn’t come back for quite a while. But the same thing happened later with Scooter. He actually caught Scooter and made him squeal. He found out though that was not a good thing to do. Slim stopped the chase when he saw me and Scooter got away.

No peanut for Slim that time. This morning Slim was lying down on the railing of the deck and Skamper came since I was there. Slim watched. When Skamper left, Slim went down after him, but somehow lost his footing and down he went into the raspberry patch. He came up scratching again. So I sat out there so the chipmunks could come and go in peace. Slim decided to leave, but he certainly chattered loudly before he went. I don’t think he was too happy. Oh well, he has to learn, or leave. I hope you all have a most wonderful Wednesday and God bless!

  2. Sorry that the fire is getting closer…I would not survive the smoke that you are experiencing…neither would Nathan…I enjoyed all the pics you sent ! 😻🙂🔥 😴

    • Well, that little fire is officially out now, along with several other of the new fires. But many more have started to take their place, but nothing close by us. Smoke is still thick though. Keeps it from getting too hot.😳🙀🔥🔥🌲🔥🔥🌲

  3. Slim 😅 oh poor him when he will ever learn 🤣. You, teach him whenever u can 😉. Hope the fires won’t disturb your place much. Stay safe and be ready to vacate if fires comes your city way. let’s just hope that doesn’t happen. Have a peaceful night 🤗

    • I’m sure he will learn, maybe. Sometime. I hope. That close fire is officially out now, thankfully. Still lots of smoke. They got a number of small fires out, but for every fire they put out, 2 more start.😬🔥🔥 Enjoy your day Simon!😁🌞 Have a good day!🌞😎 Hope it’s a nice day!       • 😮😯 take care of these cough… why don’t you go out to somewhere far for now😐 don’t risk breathing such polluted air 🙄 it’s equal to smoking 🤨 Hope your night is breathable, Stay safe, and double mask yourself pls.

      • I’ll, cough, cough, be fine. The smoke isn’t quite so bad tonight, cough, cough. But I think it’s going to get worse the next few days. COUGH! Nothing to it. Good night Simon!😳🌙😴🤯
