Fantastical Friday! #12.

Good morning on this fantastical Friday! It was nice and sunny earlier this morning, though the sun was shining through smoke as usual. Now it is mainly cloudy, but still with patches of blue sky. Ricky, my ring-billed gull friend was the first of the gulls here this morning. He almost landed on my head, he was so excited to get here first and get the best of the food. So I stood there talking to him, he didn’t mind a bit having me so close to him. After all, there’s good food involved, so who cares if there is a funny looking human standing there chattering.

The sun is shining again, with lots of blue sky, and smoke. Seems there could be some severe thunderstorms heading our way again today. We have had about 2 inches (5cm) of rain here this week, not quite so much where the fires are located. But some of the smaller fires have been put out with the help of rain, and perhaps more will be put out today. But thunderstorms also start new fires, as they did this week. There are 153 forest fires burning this morning, 114 are not under control, but all are burning slower due to rain and cooler temperatures this week. But dry weather and sunshine returns tomorrow. The chipmunks were busy early this morning, but Slim has returned now so they have to be more careful. But they are not stopping.

Yesterday there was families of warblers and vireos out here, but with those heavy rain clouds it was just too dark out there to get good pictures. I’m hoping they return this morning since it is much brighter so pics would turn out good. But so far there has been no action with those little birds. Sigh. Have to get them soon before those warblers change to their fall colors, which are not as bright as the summer colors. And that change will begin soon. This summer is going by too fast. Hard to believe that in just a couple weeks some of our birds could begin their southward trek, though they might wait 3 weeks, depending on the weather. Muffin is having her morning nap, the chipmunks are calling for more food, I’m ready for more coffee. Anyone else want some coffee while I’m up? I hope you all have a fantastical Friday and God bless!

  1. Very Good Morning Uncle Steve, Warmer weather is going to be back, thats good In a way. But not good as there are uncontrollable forest fires around 😮. Beautiful pictures, hope the fire comes under control sooner than we think, or the nature do its job. Let’s see. Have a wonderful Friday ✨🎉🤓

    • Good morning Simon!😃🌞 We could do with some warmer and dry weather right here, we have had a lot of rain. But they need rain on the fires and they might be getting some today, I hope it happens.☔☔🌨🌨 It will slow down those big fires at least and stop more of the smaller ones which would be good.☔☔ Thanks Simon, it is a nice day here right now!😁😺🌞☕☕

    • Well, if it wasn’t for the gulls and crows, I wouldn’t have any birds, but they have kept me going all summer. A flicker eating suet, that is unusual, good one! Have a good night!😁😺🌞🌙🔥☔

    • The coffee is always on around here! Right where I live we don’t actually need any rain, we have had 2 and a half inches this week. But the fires need rain so all those people evacuated can go back home. Thanks Renee!😁😺🌞☕☕
