Fantastical Friday #18.

Good morning and Happy Friday everyone! It is cool, cloudy and rainy here this morning. It started raining yesterday afternoon, then changed to showers overnight. We’re just getting light showers this morning. But we have had about 1 3/4 inches (43mm) of rain so far. That should help to put out a lot more of those fires. It’s a very dull, dark morning with those heavy clouds. And not much action outside. The chickadee family was here earlier, but they didn’t stay long. The crows were only here briefly. No gulls around this morning. All the blue jays were here and busy this morning, so that was nice. It would have been kind of lonely this morning without them.

And there have been 3 chipmunks so far. Coffee, Scooter and Skamper have been the only chipmunks braving the wet weather. I guess the others are staying home right now. Remember Skamper had something wrong with half his tail? It was really twitching a lot lately too. Well, this morning he showed up and that part of his tail was gone. Whether it fell off on it’s own or he snipped it off I don’t know, but it’s gone. Poor Skamper. Now there are three with short tails, Chester and Pocket are the other two. Some white-throated sparrows have shown up now, but they don’t come on the deck much, however, I can hear them chirping out there as they spend their time on the ground looking for food.

Oddly, Muffin didn’t want to play this morning. She did spend some time watching the blue jays. She likes watching them, maybe it’s the bright color she likes, or the fact they will come in close to the door. And they do have their arguments with each other so things can get quite lively at times. Something else that Muffin likes. I’m sure glad my friend and I took that trip out along the east highway the other day when it was so nice. The pics today are from that trip and continue our look at White Lily Lake.   1. Short tails, poor skamper 😮 he must have felt bad for it. Nature does its job. so it’s a no bird day? you got crow company 😁 that is still good, Blue Jays are fun and beauty to have around, are you sure muffin loves watching them because she loves to watch them fly? 🤔 I love to watch cooking, because I love to eat 😜 Maybe Muffin have a different perspective of watching birds 😅😂.     • Yes, I’m sure Muffin would love to invite them in for dinner,😁😻 she always has a pot ready!😹 Still not much activity out there except the blue jays and 4 chipmunks.🤔 Guess the other chipmunks don’t want to get wet. Have a great weekend!😁☕☕🌞😸
