Steve And Muffin’s Weekly Wildflower #2.

Hi everyone! This week’s wildflower is the “Showy Goldenrod”. This goldenrod likes full sun and dry sandy soil and likes fields, roadsides, railroads and forest edges. It blooms from July to October and will grow from one to five feet tall. These are beautiful late summer flowers and are fantastic for attracting bees and butterflies. They also grow well in gardens. And goldenrod does not cause allergies, even though many people think it does, but no one has ever tested positive for being allergic to goldenrod. It always turns out to be something else, usually ragweed. Each individual flower making up that beautiful cluster is 1/4 inch (6mm) across. Here in Canada it can be found from here to southern Ontario. In the U.S it can be found from the east coast west to the Dakotas, Wyoming and down to New Mexico. Not found further west or in Florida. Have a great day and God bless!
