For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning to everyone! It’s a cold, cloudy and wet morning here once again, with a cold wind along with it. But it’s still a beautiful morning. The juncos were here first this morning, it was still so dark it was hard to see them flying around out there, but they were here! Then, oddly, a blue jay showed up, though I’m not sure which one it was since it was still not very light yet. I think that’s the first time blue jays have come before the chickadees. Though it wasn’t by much and soon there were little chickadees filling their little favorite bush out back.
And right away I was heading out the door with the feeders, which I had gotten ready ahead of time so I can get out there faster with them. And it sure didn’t take long for the chickadees to show up at the feeders. Some days they are landing on the feeders before I get them hanging in place. Today they waited, but just barely. There was more of them than normal today. And there were more blue jays than normal. I counted 18 of them this morning and I think there may have been more. It was such a flurry of blue feathers out there as I tossed the first peanuts out to them. And those peanuts were gone fast!
Well, I just tossed out more peanuts and counted an even 20 blue jays, but I’m sure there were even more up in the trees yet. It’s quite amazing to have 10 of them lined up on the railing and 6 down on the step choosing peanuts, plus more in the branches of the birch tree where I counted four waiting, but I think there were more over in the maple tree too. Quite a sight with all those big blue birds, they truly are beautiful with their bold blue, white and black coloring. Now if our stores would start stocking more peanuts again it would be very nice.
Right now only one store is selling peanuts, which makes it hard since there are still a lot of people buying them. The sun keeps trying to break through the clouds, but so far the clouds are winning. Still, nice weather is on the way for a few days anyway, starting tomorrow. Unless the forecast changes. Now, it’s not going to get hot, but we might get warm anyway, especially one day. But then it’s back to normal. It has been a beautiful autumn however and even rainy days can have their own beauty. I hope you all have a fantastical Friday and God bless!

all those blue jays around reminds me of the Hitchcock movie, The Birds. I hope you don’t run out of peanuts!

Uniting forever through an awesome call,
A mission we reach forever and for all ,
Whatever we find , we can recall,
It is a splendid joy to take this role ,
sparking a rainbow light above control,
Far through eternity of a heavenly soul…
Stars do shine beautifully overall…

Yes, running out of peanuts could get dangerous!😂 If one of these stores gets a good supply in I will be buying it all so I can keep ahead for a while!

Steve, thanks for sharing some great shots of the Blue Jays. I hope the peanut supply chain keeps working. Real autumn weather will be here tomorrow morning. It looks like I will be wearing jeans instead of shorts.
