For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! I hope everyone is well and having a great day so far! It is cloudy here again this morning with some light snow. It snowed during the night as well, so we received another 2 inches of snow altogether. It is amazing how much strong wind we have had lately, kind of unusual for us. We do get windy days, but it is not usually such a strong wind. Oh well, different things happen each year. It was a beautiful day yesterday though, not much wind and sunny all day.
The birds were very active and the evening grosbeaks ended up being here most of the day. We also had a visit from some Bohemian waxwings, but it was brief. They were in the cherry tree next door and by the time I got out there with my camera, they were gone. Too bad, they really are a beautiful bird and getting a picture of them in the sunshine would have been nice. I do have quite a few photos of them already, but there is always the chance of getting something better.
Like when they hang upside down to reach one of those cherries. I didn’t see the pine grosbeaks yesterday, which was too bad. I’m hoping we get lots of them this winter. That would be so nice. We haven’t had many the last 2 winters, but the winter before that there were a lot of them around. That was also a colder winter, that is likely what brought them to the feeders. Meanwhile I will enjoy the beautiful birds we have right now.
It’s amazing those little birds can fly around in that strong wind this morning. Chickadees and nuthatches are so small, it must take more energy to fly against that wind, so they would need more food. I need to get a second suet feeder out there soon. Just having one, sometimes there is a line up of birds waiting to use it. Sometimes 2 birds will sit on it together but that doesn’t happen very often. I will have to cook up some more suet for them too. The top photo is an Iceland poppy. Well, thank you for stopping by today, I hope you have a sunshiny Sunday and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.

Just too much traffic for one and when it starts getting cold I don’t want them to wait too long. Thanks Jim, hope you have a great day!
