For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning to all of you! I hope your day is going well. It is a nice morning here, some cloud, some blue sky showing and a much milder day for us. Right now it is 0F (-18C), but it is very windy which actually makes it feel like -31F (-35C). But the wind is from the south so it is bringing in milder temps for us today. We are also supposed to get a little snow, maybe an inch (2.5cm), which is nothing really. So hopefully I can get a walk down to the river again today, although with that wind it will be a bit chilly once I get down there out in the open.
It is hard to hear the birds when it is so windy though, but that is okay, it’s still a nice walk. I did get much sleep last night, technical difficulties is what I like to call it, this time it means me. Then at midnight that little deer came up on the deck to look for seeds. Because it was still very cold at the time, it is very noisy as the deer walk on the deck with all that horrible scrunching sound of the frozen snow. And the noise is amplified on that wood deck.
Then Junior obviously came along too and that little deer took off rather quickly being chased by Junior. Then he came back, but the few seeds that were out there were eaten by the little deer. I should give that one a name I guess. Anyway, Junior found Jasper’s “hidden” peanuts in the bucket so he feasted on those instead. I must remember to remove the remaining peanuts at night. I did not get out of bed to watch all of this, so how do I know what was going on?
They are the only two deer that come on the deck. And it was easy to tell that Junior had found the peanuts. Poor Jasper, he is going to wonder what happened to all of his peanuts he had nicely hidden. After Junior left the other deer came back, but quickly left when he found there was nothing more to eat. Then I woke up at 5:55am. It felt like I had just fallen asleep. But I was awake, so I got up. I know better than to try and go back to sleep once I wake up. It just does not work for me.
I probably managed to get 4 hours sleep, which is just not enough. Oh well, these things happen. There are lots of birds here again, or I should say, there were, something has scared them again, so right now all I can see are a few chickadees. But all of them were here an hour ago. It appears to be completely cloudy now. Muffin is having her morning nap and I am ready for more coffee. I hope you all have a most wonderful Wednesday and God bless!

How do you feel uncle Steve? Is your technical issues solved? or you planning to visit doc? π€ Take care, and get good amount of sleep. Jasper parter might ask where did you hid the peanuts and Jasper will be like I sure hid it here, now I think I forgot it, his partner will ask ‘What do you mean you forgot?’ ππ€£π€£ poor Jasper he is definitely going to miss that peanuts π these deers and these cold poor them nature have its own plan. Take care uncle Steve and have a good day.βΊοΈ

Yes, technical issues are resolved now.πππ I can just imagine when Jasper goes home and Jasmine asks why he didn’t bring any peanuts!!πππ€£π€£ Poor Jasper, he has some bad days. I do try to get good sleep, but sometimes things happen. Fortunately I have been sleeping good lately, so one bad night is not so bad. I hope it’s only one bad night.ππ³ππ€―π²π΄π΄π

Good morning Steve! Your photos of the common redpolls are wonderful. The bird looks so comfortable in your hand! Stay warm and enjoy your walk by the river. Trust you get a full night’s sleep tonight. Have a blessed day and unexpected joy!

Four hours of sleep used to be manageable for me in my 30s and 40s. But I’d usually have to “make up” a little extra the following night, like seven instead of six, which was my usual.
Post-strokes, now I have to sleep nine to ten hours; I can get by on eight for one night, but following that will be a 12 hour slumber.

I was the same way, and now ever since having Covid I need 8 or more hours of sleep. Normal for me was 6 to 7 hours. Some days I have trouble getting out of bed and to my chair for the day. Thankfully not many days are like that now. Didn’t know you had strokes, that can certainly slow a person down, not fun. Have a nice evening!ππΊπ
