For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning and Happy Sunday everyone! It is early, still dark. We got more snow, it began yesterday afternoon and continued through the night. I have not been outside yet to check and see how much we have. As of 6pm last night we had 3 inches (7.5cm), the forecast was for 6 inches (15cm). It was difficult keeping the feeders clear of snow yesterday so the birds could get at the seeds. So I was careful not to put out too many seeds at a time.
The larger birds have no difficulty digging through the snow for the seeds, but the smaller birds have a harder time, and some, like the chickadees and nuthatches, just cannot do a very good job of digging. The redpolls do a bit better, that is because they are ground feeding birds so they are used to scratching around for seeds.
Chickadees and nuthatches are tree feeders mostly, so digging through snow is hard for them. The temperature is mild right now, but the north wind is bringing cold temperatures back to us again and the temp is going to fall continuously today until it hits -22F (-30C) tonight. And it is going to stay cold at least until the end of the week.
But, there is no snow in the forecast for this week, just a lot of nice sunshine! And one of these days that sunshine will start to bring warmer weather with it. One day. I do not know when however. That is why it is so nice to look at some nice, sunny, summer pictures at times. Like today. I hope you will enjoy the sunshine of these summer flowers. Thank you for stopping by! Have a most wonderful day everyone and God bless!

Thanks Jim! We just got another 9 inches of snow overnight. I don’t even have anywhere to put it now.

Yes, it sure seems that way. But no snow in the forecast for this week anyway.

Yes, this last snow was not exactly forecast at the beginning of last week.

True enough, storms can suddenly form out of nowhere.
