Musings For Monday. #13…Some Things I Enjoy.

Good morning everyone on this, once again, cold Monday! I am sure that one of these days we will begin to enjoy spring weather that will stay with us and not just come and go. But for now, it remains cold. So, for something a little unusual for a Monday musings post, I thought perhaps sharing just a few of the things that I enjoy. Perhaps you also enjoy some of these things too, or perhaps not. But even if you do not, I hope you will enjoy my list anyway. This is not a complete list, just a start really.

First is my featured image at the top, a nice calm, restful summer day at the river enjoying the beauty of nature all around me. For someone like me that is one of the most enjoyable things. Something that is coming up soon, likely once the weather returns to some normal warmth again, are my little friends the chipmunks.

One of my chipmunk friends.

Having them sit on my knee or climbing all over me is most definitely something that is very enjoyable. It has been a long 6 months without my little furry friends around and I am really looking forward to seeing them all again.

Mourning cloak.

Then there is the little things of nature that are so enjoyable, like this little mourning cloak butterfly above, sitting on top of a young balsam fir tree. They are always our first butterflies of the season having spent the winter hibernating in logs, trees or wherever they can find a sheltered spot.

Ruby-throated hummingbird.

And in keeping with little things, we have the ruby-throated hummingbird pictured above. His ruby red throat often looks black until the sun hits it transforming it into a bright red color. They are remarkable little birds and a joy to have around.

False morel.

Then there are the oddities of nature that are also very enjoyable, like this false morel mushroom pictured above. Though it is poisonous, unlike true morels, it has a very unique design and does not even look like a mushroom at all.

Double-crested cormorant.

Another oddity are these double-crested cormorants above, even though they may not appear too odd at first look. But they have this habit of swimming with their beaks pointed upward and often swim with only their head and neck out of water. Or they will swim with their wings outstretched drying them as they swim along.

Geranium.

Then there is the joy of bright and cheery flowers, like these geraniums above. Flowers are always enjoyable and the bright colors show off their beauty whether it is sunny or cloudy.

Harebell.

And speaking of flowers, there is one of my all time favorites above, the harebell. Though such a delicate flower and stem they can survive pounding rain and heavy wind, continuing to show off their beauty to all.

Well, this is just a small list of some things that are enjoyable to me. Thank you for stopping to read, have a wonderful Monday and God bless!

  1. Just curious, is your snow all gone? Wondering what the first picture would look like in winter IF you can get down to the river safely?

    • The snow all gone? Thanks for the good laugh CA! We still have lots of snow, but that side of the river the snow has melted away since it faces south. I think I posted a similar pic on one of my posts, not sure which one though. I will check my pics and see what I have. I won’t be going back down there until the snow and ice is gone for sure, just too dangerous right now. Of course the river will still be open, it always is, but I will check.πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜Ίβ„οΈβ„οΈπŸ“·
