The Investigators, Inc. The Sniper Mystery. Chapter 10. The Cats.

Meow.=When I say run, go behind sofa. Meowr.=Okay. Meow.=Help me with clip clips. They each took a handle in their mouth and clipped one wire, then the next, then the wire holding the bomb to the girls. Meow!!=Run!! Storm ran behind the sofa like MC told him and MC ran with the bomb to toss it out the window. Everyone else had gone downstairs knowing the explosion would be big, if it happened. Suddenly that explosion happened and everyone knew it was inside.

No one moved for a moment trying to take in what had just happened. But then Muffin screamed, EEEEEEEEEEKKKK!!, and she ran as fast as she could up the stairs. She just passed the second floor when she suddenly fell limp on the stairs. Jenny was right behind her and stopped immediately to protect her from being trampled by everyone. Kat then first made it to the tea room where the girls had been. “Stop!”, she yelled to the others, “no men, get blankets, call Chung and do it fast!”

Everyone scrambled to get blankets but Carine and Angel came to help Kat. The explosion blew the whole exterior wall away, leaving just a large gaping hole. The whole room was blasted and ripped apart. The sofa that Storm hid behind was in pieces, but he came out unharmed. But they could not see MC anywhere. Meowr.=MC going to toss bomb out window, he drag it, but he not make it. Jennifer called for MC or Storm to come help.

Angel told Storm to go, that something was wrong with Muffin. He ran fast to where Jennifer was cuddling Muffin on the second floor. “Lay down beside her here, and purr as loud as you can Storm,” she said crying, “please!” Storm did so purring loudly and licking her face. Because Storm came and not MC Jennifer knew that he must be hurt badly, or, worse. Galyna and Axelina went outside and around the chateau to see the damage from there. “There!”, yelled Galyna, “it’s MC!”

Sure enough, his limp and lifeless body lay in the grass, but with only some minor looking burns to one side of his body. The ambulances were soon there and took Aurela and Lajla to the clinic though Chung did not hold out much hope for them. Baldwin drove MC and Muffin to the clinic in his car. The other doctor who comes to help at the clinic at times was able to come early that morning so Chung had help. Plus Mriya and Nyura are both nurses so they also helped out. Chung looked at the two cats.

“MC, he is knocked out, but not look serious,” said Chung, “but Muffin, I must test her, I think it is a heart attack.” All the stress lately for her and then running so fast upstairs was just too much for her little heart.

Meanwhile at the chateau… Kat found my phone so she could get Jake’s phone number. “Hey Steve,” said Jake, “what is happening?” “Sorry Jake, this is Kat,” she said, “I hope you do not mind, I know you do not like a lot of people using your phone number.” “Hey, that is okay Kat girl,” he answered, “what news is there?” Kat took a big breath. “Steve is in the clinic, he was shot by the Stinger, it’s bad,” she said slowly, “and Annelie was shot too, she lost a lot of blood, it does not look like she will make it.”

Jake was silent for a few moments. “I, thought there was 2 others there, and the cats,” he said quietly, very unlike himself. “There was 2 more of the girls, Stinger had a bomb tied to them,” she began, “MC tried to get the bomb off, but he did not quite make it.” “Whoa, that is heavy news Kat girl,” he said, still quiet, “hey, ol Jake messed up bad, it was my plan, I, just do not see how Stinger did it, he must have had help but he is always a loner.

Guess he wanted Steve bad enough to get help. I am going to find out who helped him and I will track him down for you, I promise you that. Now, you go stick with that man of yours, but give me your number, Jenny too, I will be in touch. And tell big Rock, I am very sorry, this hit hard. Gotta go, I will be back.” Kat went to the clinic to be with me. She walked into the room, but I was not there. She asked Mriya where I was. “He is in his room,” she said. “No, he is not,” answered Kat. Mriya sounded the alarm and a search was made, but I was nowhere to be found…
