Thoughts For Thursday. #20

Good morning to everyone on this very foggy Thursday! It is a clear and sunny morning, so says the forecast, but we cannot see it due to the very heavy fog this morning. Makes it look like a cloudy day out there. I was hoping to be out early to get some photos since it was going to be sunny. Clouds are supposed to return later this morning, probably about the time the fog lifts. Then the clouds and rain return once more, and lots of rain too.

Plus we could get some snow mixed in there too. It will definitely be cold enough to snow. But at least we are not getting that major snowstorm they had originally forecast for us, so I am very thankful for that. I am showing some more pics of our colorful birds here this morning, I hope you will enjoy them. It is too bad the Baltimore Oriole did not stay around, but the rose-breasted grosbeaks are still here, at least 2 of them anyway.

So I am still hoping they will attract a female around here too so I can get some better photos of her. Those males are doing a lot of singing and females usually do come around here each spring, normally it is the males that are missing. I am hoping to get a female in the sun, or at least when the clouds are bright. Two years ago when I got pics of the female it was raining, so they did not really turn out the best. I would really like to get something better.

But perhaps there will be time yet, the sun is supposed to return on the weekend. I hope I can get down to the river soon, our warblers are returning steadily now and because the leaves are not out yet it is a great time to get photos of these small and colorful birds. Providing they come down low enough and many of them will do that, while others remain in the tops of the trees, except when they are looking for nesting material or food for their young.

I was going to try today but this fog is hanging around too long, but perhaps on Monday. I picked up a few flowers at the garden center to plant in pots out on my deck again this year. I did not get as many as last year though, but it is nice to have some color out here during the summer. It is going to be a short summer this year.

This cool weather is going to stay with us right into the first part of June at least, perhaps longer. Hmm, the sun almost broke through the fog, but then disappeared again. Must be time for some more coffee before heading out for pics. I hope you have a wonderful day and God bless!

  1. Steve, trust summer will come for you soon. The leaves have unfurled a bit making green hills, Still have snow on the ground in places but it will melt due to warmer temperatures in the 50’s F and maybe up to the 60’s F. Happy to see this because summer ens in late August in the Far North. Enjoy your day!

      • It’s very cool. Our balcony is small and we feel it has become a safe haven for our feathered friends. We have huge spider plants (15 or so), which gives them a place to nest. We sit out there when the weather is nice and it doesn’t seem to phase the birds. Sorry to hear about your snow. 😻 πŸŒžβ„οΈβ˜•οΈβ˜•οΈ

      • It is always nice when the birds don’t mind having us humans around with them. Well, at least the snow was wet and melted as it landed on the ground. Still not something fun to see this late in May. There were more snow flurries today and another very cool day with a high of 41F. Keep enjoying those birds!πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜»β˜•β˜•
