Looking At Insects. #14 Bee Fly

Hi again everyone! Here we are with another insect, this time a real odd type, looks more like an alien insect really! This is the first one I have seen and so happy I got its photo. This is the “Hunchback Fly”, a member of the Bee Fly family. It is a greenish color with those 3 black stripes, plus black, white and furry on the back end.

That long thing in front is its antennae. It is about 5/8 of an inch (15mm) long. I needed two pictures to really show the beauty, and oddity of this little critter. It does not sting or bite which is nice. That hunchback look is the way it stays all the time. It also has very long legs. It is around, in our area, during July and August. Thanks for taking a look, have a great day and God bless!
