Thursday’s Thoughts, With Coffee! #19

Good morning everyone! It is such a beautiful spring morning! The sun is shining brightly, just a faint little breeze now and then, and it is warm too with a temperature of 60F (16C). It smells wonderful outside too. We had a huge thunderstorm last night which drenched us with rain, but the main part was the lightning. It was truly amazing watching that lightning show.

It was so bright at times that the whole area was lit up like there were huge floodlights shining all around. I think that was the most lightning we have had in a storm for quite some time. Poor Muffin, she did not like that at all. She hates storms. They scare her terribly, and that one last night was worse than normal for her. She went in the bathroom and would not come out for anything.

New growth continues to show up, this are Columbine leaves.

She did not sleep at all through the storm, or for quite some time afterwards. Her little eyes just stayed wide open as she stared at the bathroom door. She is sleeping now though, and I imagine she will continue to sleep through most of today in order to catch up on her lost sleep last night. It was nice to sit on the deck this morning with coffee in hand and just soaking up that beautiful spring morning.

Mica, the red squirrel, was here early. He is getting much braver now and will actually sit beside me while he eats his peanut. Skamper was also here early, then GPS showed up a little later. Those chipmunks are just so cute. Skamper is not my original, but he comes from the same direction and the real Skamper did not come back this year, so I named this little guy with the same name, easier that way.

And here we have leaves from Forget-me-nots.

He is not so brave, but he will take peanuts from my hand now, so hopefully he will be sitting on my knee soon. Those are the two main chipmunks that come around right now, not sure what has happened to the others. Such a change from last year when I had 8 of them coming around. I miss those little critters climbing all over me, digging in my pockets, sitting on my shoulder. I am starting all over again.

Jasper was here yesterday, and he still gets along well with the chipmunks, although sometimes they will still scare him, though not intentionally. Skamper was coming running across the rock hill heading to the deck and Jasper was following the same path but going in the opposite direction. When the two met, poor Jasper, I am sure he jumped a foot in the air while Skamper just kept running like nothing happened.

And the Daffodils are beginning to produce flower buds!

Jasper landed after Skamper passed and he looked behind him at Skamper, then kept on going. They have had a couple other encounters too which I will share another time. Hard to believe how late it is already, and I was up before 5:30 this morning too. Oh well. I hope you all have a most wonderful day and God bless!
