Wednesday Words, With Coffee. #24

Good morning everyone! Time to grab a coffee, relax and chat a while. Wow, what a difference in the weather! Yesterday it was 79F (26C) and this morning it was just 46F (8C). It felt more like autumn when I went out to feed the birds earlier. This is not really an odd temperature for June however, but because it has been warmer than usual it feels cold.

Oh well, it will be warming up again. So we are told anyway. Smoke from our forest fires really blanketed our area yesterday, it was like walking around on a foggy day, except for the smell. It was quite strong at times, which is not healthy. It is still out there this morning, but not as strong, it is likely going to get worse this afternoon again, and tomorrow.

I keep trying to get these huge White Pelicans to look at me.

It is recommended to wear N95 masks when the smoke gets that bad. Well, I have been adding some new insects to my insect pictures, but identifying them is not an easy task. Unfortunately because of the huge numbers of insect species, there is no book or online resource that is anywhere near complete. Experts in the field say if a person can identify an insect down to the family level, that is considered good.

But with many insects, identifying them down to exact species is impossible. Oh well. It is no wonder I am having such a hard time identifying some of these insects. It certainly is interesting though, finding out how many different insects can be found in a small area, like right in our own yard.

But it is not so easy to do.

It would be good to get back down to the river again though, there are so many more species that can be found along that path. Plus many more bird species too. Like the White Pelican. I do miss those huge birds. They are quite comical and so much fun to watch them. I could easily spend a whole day watching them and taking photos of them.

I usually see them quite often flying overhead while I am on the deck. But I have not seen them even once this year. Flying overhead that is. I really need to get over my fear of the bears, something that I prefer to call a healthy respect for bears. Either way it prevents me from walking to the river. Which prevents me from seeing the pelicans. Which prevents me from getting more pics of the pelicans. And other birds.

But I like to keep trying.

I miss my little friend Scramble too. Oh well, minor details. I do enjoy taking pics of insects though, the variety is just so amazing. Not many people share my enthusiasm for insects however. I think it is time for another cup of coffee. I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and God bless!
