For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good afternoon everyone! So nice to see you all again! We are actually getting some sunshine today, not totally, but it does shine quite a bit anyway. There are still lots of clouds around too, but not like the last few days of cloud and rain. And rain. And rain. Plus it rained a bit too. Oh well. There likely isn’t any fires burning in our area anymore. So that’s a good thing.
Speaking of trees. Our fall colors have basically gone now, though there are some that are still holding onto that bright yellow, red and orange. The red of the maple trees seems to arrive at the end, though the maples that turn yellow begin their change earlier. But there is still a bit of color to enjoy out there yet. It was kind of spread out over a longer period this year.

This is a street alongside one of the lakes in our town.
Speaking of leaves. The bug problem with my plants seems to be over now. I lost 12 plants and still have two quarantined from the others for now. One of those seems to be clean now, but the other one I’m still watching closely. I did pick up a few replacement plants last week, which are also quarantined at the moment, just to make sure they don’t have any problems with insects that might infect the other plants.
I also took some cuttings from the previously infected plants that I lost, so hopefully I will get some new plants from them. A couple are starting to get roots now, the others are ones that normally take longer, so we’ll see what happens to all of them. I don’t expect that all will survive, though I wouldn’t mind if they did. I took some leaf cuttings from one of my peperomia plants, first time I have done leaf cuttings.

It’s quite a long, narrow lake. Houses along one side, a park with a few houses on the other side.
Four of the 8 leaves produced roots, so I planted them and all have survived so far, and two have been producing new leaves now as well. Success! It took a long time, but the gardening site I got the instructions from said it would take weeks, or even months, before new leaves would appear. Hopefully the other two leaf cuttings will also produce as well. It’s always exciting to try something new and have it work out so nicely!
Hmm, I see it is raining out there again. My friend and I were out driving around town a bit last week and taking some fall photos of the town. I was actually hoping to get out once more to check a different part of town, but then I got hit with this cold. I haven’t had a cold in more than 10 years and it really hit me hard. This is now day 8 and I’m still not feeling better, even though I’m feeling better than I was, and I’m certainly thankful for that.

This shows part of the park, which has a popular beach in the summer.
There were 5 days that were very hard. But then, I’m a guy, so naturally it hits me hard. Or it could be that guys are more wimpy when it comes to things like this. Actually, I think that’s it, though guys don’t like to admit it. But that’s why I haven’t been doing much lately. Anyway, back to fall photos. I will show a few of them for you today. I hope you all have a great day and God bless!

Steve, your photos share some of the conversation around this time of year. I understand how a cold can knock one over. That’s where I was last weekend, then I was much too generous in sharing it with my wife. Best wishes with your plants.
