The Investigators, Inc. The Stray Cat Mystery. Chapter 13. Woes For Wemyss.

Cristy and the other computer girls have been working overtime, as have the Black Wolves, looking for the weaknesses of Wemyss. He must have some and we have now discovered them. This should put Wemyss out of business more quickly than anything, hopefully. We will let his own people do the work for us and they will do it quickly too I’m quite sure. The Black Wolves found out about a major shipment of drugs going to Wemyss in Canada, but also another in the UK and his warehouse in Europe, which happens to be in Berlin.

The Black Wolves were able to find out when and where the shipments were going to be delivered and how it will happen. That makes everything so much easier for us. Dawn and her Night Owls plus Misty and her Sneakers will be needed to help with this. I didn’t really like having everyone out at the same time, but there was no other way to do it since these shipments were happening at precisely the same time in each place. In Canada the shipment was being sent to Quebec City so the Wolves will take care of that one.

However, I had Sky bring Mac, Rock and Clarence back to Scotland to help Dawn and her Night Owls and Misty and her Sneakers. Sky and her Bad Girls are heading down to London to stop the shipment there. Kat and her Wildcats have flown to Berlin to pick up the shipment heading there. Three large moving trucks will be delivering the drugs and guns in each shipment to a Wemyss pickup point. However, they will be intercepted before ever reaching their intended destinations. The fire that had been started out at Wemyss’ house was quickly extinguished by the fire department since there is a fire hydrant right in front of his place.

Wemyss made sure of that, even though he lives outside of the city of Aberdeen. He still gets city water out there though, and sewer. After all, he is an important man in this area, so the city and nearly everyone else bends over backwards to satisfy him. That just might change soon though. I doubt that Wemyss and his corporation will be around much longer. He owns several companies all over the UK and Europe, plus a few in Canada, but rather than putting all of his own money into these places, investors put their money into them instead.

But they are on the run right now because things are already not looking so good for Wemyss and his corporation. So many are pulling out while they can. Others are hoping to weather the storm figuring that things will turn around and get back to normal. Not if we can do anything about it. I went to talk with Callison again today to see if I can find out some other information about Wemyss. She may not know anything though, but perhaps her father told her some things about the time he worked for Wemyss. “Yes, he told me many things about Mr. Wemyss,” she said, “but that is all old information now so I doubt it would help you much.”

“That’s okay,” I said, “sometimes men like Wemyss don’t change things if what they are doing is working. Such as, where would he keep all that money he makes from his drug dealings, guns and other things.” “Wemyss never did trust banks too much,” she said, “although his profits from legitimate businesses went into the bank, or he would invest it. Most of his money is tied up in investments, mostly in real estate. But his drug money and other such earnings he always kept in two safes, the big one in the basement and there is an even larger safe behind that big safe.

It can only be accessed from the back of the first safe, though I have no idea how. All my father said was that it was quite tricky, it has a combination lock but you can’t see that lock except a certain way. Father just said he had to use a special light to see the combination lock, then you just press the numbers in the right order. But if you press any of the numbers in the wrong order, you will get electrocuted.” I told this information to Mac and he understood what I was talking about right away.

Angel will be there to protect him. I could send her back to Aberdeen since Jennifer was able to come back home now, and Kitty will also be there. Only Jennifer and Frisky are needed at the chateau for now. Wemyss is staying at his hotel in the city right now until his house has been fixed up again which makes this a perfect time to rob the thief. Angel took Mac and Clarence to the basement while Kitty took Rock around to take care of the guards on the main floor, that way he could stay invisible and safe. Dawn and her Night Owls are a distraction outside, by using a new electrical invention by Carolyn which will disengage the electrical operated gate and open it for them.

Then they drove in, stopped out front and jumped out of their vans. The guards came running but they were easily taken care of by the Night Owls. All this commotion brought 4 guards, of the 10 inside, running to the door, but suddenly this huge man stood in front of them, appearing out of nowhere. Rock started punching and all four men were on the floor, either dead or knocked out cold. Three more were in another room, two watching TV and one doing something on a desk top computer. Suddenly that computer smashed to pieces right in front of the man and the other two asked what happened.

“No idea,” he said, “it’s like the thing exploded!” He was backing away from the desk as he said that and suddenly he was in the air and fell hard onto the floor! The other two looked on in unbelief when Rock was standing in front of them and he punched both knocking them out cold. Three more came running into the room with guns out but they dropped them quickly when they got too hot. Rock grabbed one and threw him against the wall while Kitty took care of the other two.

Meanwhile, Mac was inside the first safe with his light and working on the other combination lock while Angel protected him. He opened it on the third try. “I’m getting rusty,” he said, “it should have only taken me two tries.” The amount of money in that safe was astounding, but the amount of gold was more astounding. I told them to take all of the gold and one tenth of the cash, then burn the rest. Then I said to wait until I talked with Fergus.

He agreed to take the gold and whatever cash I wanted, then to burn the remainder, that way Wemyss would have no way to recover any of it. They used Catalina’s fire bombs to get things started all over the house this time, including the money scattered about here and there. Then they used some surprise packages to blow up several fire hydrants so the fire department couldn’t put the fire out easily. They took all the guards outside before burning the house though. I would love to see the look on Wemyss’ face when he gets all this news later.
