Insect Photos For Fun. #1

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a good day and getting ready to enjoy the weekend. I’m finally getting back to some insect posts again, though these will be a bit different than the others. There will be less informational content and instead just focusing on the insect in photos.

I will mention some basic things about the insect though. Today we will look at a Clearwing Moth called the Hummingbird Clearwing moth, which is part of the larger Sphinx Moth family. This one is about one inch, 25 to 30mm in length, quite furry and colorful.

It flies about during the day, going from flower to flower, seldom sitting still, it’s wings a constant blur. That’s why the name for this moth. It is difficult to get a good photo of the wings due to their being in a constant blur of motion like the wings of the hummingbird.

We have 2 different varieties of this Clearwing moth in our area and they are common, not only here, but all over the northeastern part of North America. Have a great weekend everyone and God bless!
