For a smile as wide as a country sunrise

Hello everyone on this very beautiful Sunday! I can’t believe I actually forgot to post a nature’s art post yesterday, so here it is today. Hopefully that won’t happen too often. I’m already behind on my “touring my town” series. Sigh. It has turned out to be a beautiful day, the snow stopped and the sun keeps peeking out now and then, and the temp is a nice -1C (30F). Almost feels like spring. Temporarily. But the north wind is starting and colder temps are returning tonight. That’s okay. We had a nice little break and I’m happy for that.
And now for today’s pics for art in nature, continuing with mushrooms…

And first we have the turkey tail polypore. This one actually has many color variations and is very common on rotting logs and stumps. The biggest in this picture is 3 inches (7.5cm). They can get much bigger.
And here we have the violet-toothed polypore, another one is very common and widespread. The largest in the photo is 10cm (4 inches), but again, they can get larger.
These polypores, and there are many more varieties of them, are quite a colorful addition to the forest landscape and certainly qualify for art in nature. I found so many different mushroom species just in this little area of my walking path to the river, it’s quite amazing. Identifying some of them is also quite a challenge. I hope you all have a great week and God bless!

Good morning everyone and Happy Sunday to you all as well! Well, it’s a mild morning once again, and it’s snowing once again. Not really much snow, but enough to mess up the streets and sidewalks making them even more slippery and dangerous than before. But that is what winter is all about. Some people like winter. I’m not really sure why. Though most people who like winter have never really experienced a true northern winter, like it is up here. I agree, there is much beauty in winter. There is also much hardship. Not just for people, but also for the animal life that lives in this northern part of the world. All part of winter. Without winter would summer be so nice? Yes, it would be. But it’s best to just enjoy what we can in every season, keep a smile going and remember, the sun always shines. And here at Steve’s Country we like to combine the two and provide “a smile as wide as a country sunrise”!
And now, for everyone’s favorite part…

Our third different pink hollyhock flower and very beautiful too. This bee seems to agree with me about it’s beauty, it spent a lot of time with this one.
And then the bee went over to this beautiful red hollyhock to continue gathering it’s nectar treasure for the day, plus scattering pollen from flower to flower in the process.
I hope you don’t mind too much for having both flowers today being hollyhocks. But they really are a beautiful flower and come in so many different shades of colors. And they really are a true country garden flower. I hope you all enjoy your Sunday and God bless!
