For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
WATCH THOSE MICE!
I was savagely attacked by a man-eating mouse!
The one that lives in the roof of the house.
He growled and snarled and laughed with glee,
And a scratch on the hand he gave to me.
Be careful if you see a cute little mouse,
Leave him and soon he will fill the house.
Mice on the floor, on the counter, in your bed,
Tickling your feet and kicking your head!
Dancing and frolicking all through the night,
Eating your food, everything in sight!
They will feast on cookies, cakes, and cheese,
Soon they begin to do as they please.
They’ll sit on your chair, fill you with dread,
Soon they’ll be sleeping right on your head!
Very careful you will want to be,
Otherwise mice is all you will see!
Their numbers will increase more and more,
Until they chase you right out the door!

Good morning Margo! Glad you enjoyed the poem! Mice were a problem at my last place, not so much here, Muffin sees to that.πΈ I find it more comical than problematic anyway and something that can be laughed aboutπ, so out comes the poems. Have a great evening!ππΊ

It is funny, Steve! I love mice though. They are kinda cute. I had a friend who had rats. People scared of them but I found them quite funny. Especially, the male who tried to steal a bun that was twice bigger than him. He carried it with huge importance to his den, dropped a couple of times, but still carried. π

Mice are cute, especially the ones with those big round ears! Most people think of disease when the see mice and rats which is why they are scared usually. But that’s only certain wild varieties. They can be funny to watch though, like other animals. That would have been funny to watch that rat!πππΈ

Thanks so much! The mouse problem was actually at my last apartment, not here. But I think mice are better than the huge spiders that are in this place!π²Enjoy your day!ππΊ

Thanks so very much Mac! The poem is actually based on real events for the most part, from an apartment I lived in before. Nicer here, except for the huge spiders in this place. Enjoy your day!ππΊ

since i live in a semi rural area, im in a mouse/rat area which is their natural habitat. im lucky to not have them in my house, but they do come around the house and into the garage and tack building. the mice and rats are field mice/rats and they are a problem. i constantly have traps out for them. the kangaroo mouse (which lives in my area) has been known to carry the hantavirus. those type of mice have been found to have that virus in areas around me, so it is only a matter of time before those that live in my area will have it too. the rats are not the norway house rat, but the field rat. which is different. though i dont like trapping them, it is a necessity or they will over run the place. and with all the rain, there is more food for them and this year, i have trapped more than any other year. sigh. the price we pay to live where i live.

Yes, I used to live right in the country and mice were a worse problem than in town. Our main mouse is the kangaroo mouse and the hantavirus has been found here as well, so I really don’t like them coming indoors! Muffin is a good mouser and unlike a lot of cats, she kills them right away, doesn’t play with them. Thanks for the great comment. Enjoy your day Buddy!ππΊ
